I took a bag of their budget brand Home Grown starter back to the store once recently because it smelled just gross like mixed chemicals. I bought it because it was the only non-medicated feed I could get. The store clerk said it smelled normal to her, thought I was nuts. Maybe I'm just spoiled due to the fresh smelling Tucker Milling feed that doesn't have that shiny coating on the pellets that Purina puts on theirs.

Must be a common thing with their feeds, since this was two bags of different product, plus that other bag of Purina starter that smelled the same way. It doesn't appear that it's ever been wet, doesn't look odd at all. We'll see. If anything happens to my birds, Purina loses my business, albeit only occasional business, forever.

Cyn, how's your head today? Are people starting to calm down and not harass you so much? Hope you're feeling better, sweetie.

Laura, please refresh my memory. Which one is Boo? She's the Del girl, isn't she?

Now maybe you understand why I said to be careful of what you wish for, huh?!?

Amy, Boo is the little Black Ameracuana that was broody not too long ago and lost her egg right at hatch time. It may have been a false alarm. When I went out to feed and water this morning I saw 4 eggs in the nest box. After doing the chores I walked over to the coop to gather the eggs and heard a hen growling. When I went into the coop she was on that nest and growled at any hen that went near. I scoop out the eggs and later when I went out she was off the nest and left her little blue egg. Maybe she just did not want to share the nest? Or maybe she is thinking about going broody again?

I really like the Tucker Milling feed. What protein do you use and how much is it in Blue Ridge? I guess that is where you get feed.

I usually get the Tucker Milling 16% mini layer pellets at the Fannin County Co-op in Blue Ridge. Right now, it's $11.50/50#. I love Tucker Milling, personally. Fresh smelling feed, not powdery, just good feed. We got 50# of Knockout Game Bird feed which is our 11 grain scratch, plus the Flock Raiser so we're set for awhile, I think.

Kathy, that bugs me that your pic won't show up. I can't see it if I use Quote, but I can if I click edit on that post. It's really weird. I'm going to see if I can post a pic in this one here.
