oops speaking of special souls....I have been meaning to hop on here to share this with you all having already told Cyn on the phone. It just really touched me and amazed me but Lancelot always does things to amaze me. What saddens me though...the folks who miss seeing all of these wonderful things and see their chickens as stupid chickens....gosh if they would only take a few minutes to watch them they would know how smart they really are and how much feeling they do really have.
As you know, Delilah aka Sumo Kung Fu chicken, is inside with a broken toe and pulled ligaments. Well she has been getting daily therapy of sorts because I force her to put a little weight on her foot and I manipulate the leg, hock and hip area so she does not get stiff being confined during her healing. Well day before yesterday, it was relatively cool outside but the sun was shining brightly and I talked to Cyn about taking DeDe outside into the sunshine and we both thought it would lift her spirits some. So I took her into the front yard and sat her in the yard and she was visibly happy about the sunshine and the blooming clover so she laid over for a sunbath and I stood nearby to make sure she was safe. Well Lancelot came around the corner and saw her lying in the yard and he came running over to her calling to her.
He called to her and walked away then stopped and looked back. DeDe of course had not followed him so he walked back to her and talked to her some more and turned to walk away and stopped to look back and saw she had not gotten up to follow him so he went back over to her and gave her what I can only describe as a lecture to follow him and she stood up and tried to walk towards him and she lost her balance and fell into his side. She actually knocked him off balance a little but then he surprised me....rather than move away from her or jump he stood completely still literally holding her up so she did not fall.
He stood there with DeDe for a couple of minutes and as she slowly eased back down to the ground, he lay down right with her. He was clucking softly to her and pulling nice clover and dropping in front of her. Hector and the girls came around and ran over and they stood in a circle around Lancelot and DeDe as if they were guarding them while they were lying down...Lancelot clucking to her and looking into her face and DeDe picking at whatever little gifts he gave her. DeDe tried to get up again and swayed so I went over and picked her up....dear sweet Lancelot walked with me all the way to the front door when I carried her inside and waited for me to come back outside. I promised him I would bring her back as soon as she was healed but she could come out and visit with him each day. The boy bruuuuurrrred at me and turned and walked away. I swear that boy understands every word I say to him.
Today he brought me gifts all day. It was beautiful outside and I spent most of it outside with the birds and in the yard. He brought me a twist tie, several leaves and even a clover blossom which he dropped at my feet. He is so funny when he brings a gift like a nice leaf or something he looks up at me with this expression that says "Well....aren't you going to eat it?" hahahahaha I told him I would save it for later and I sat it on my table by the porch swing and he strolled of like he was acknowledging my saving it for later.
Lancelot is none too thrilled by My Little Love. He goes beak to beak with Rufus every chance they get. They are both so jealous of each other getting attention...they are funny as all get out. Rufus has yet to realize that Lancelot has a good 12 - 13 lb weight advantage on him. hahahahahaha
Well I will update in a bit, I have pics uploading of my babies to share.
