I never learned to do anything except quilt, which I consider art, not sewing. I can't sew. I can't make clothing or fix things, just quilt.

I'm almost finished whipstitching the binding on the back. Thanks to Tim, who kicked me into gear on my quilting again! Terrie sent me several packs of Moda charm squares and I think I'll do a bed runner or large table runner.

I don't know how to crochet or knit, but I sure admire beautiful articles done by others.

Well Kathy you do a fine job on those chickens.

As for quilting. I started to give it a go since DW does sew and there is a lot of fabric in the house, but it takes up to much space and I have to many other interests.

DW used to make all the girls dresses when they were younger. She likes the South since the little girls are into that stuff I guess. Of course since she works outside the home she doesn't get much time.

Now Cyn, don't forget Christmas is coming. I know you may not celebrate it but a nice winter theme would make a nice runner. I have no doubt you'd have takers for something in that line.

I'm trying to get things situated for DW to take care of the chickens while I'm gone to AL in a couple of weeks. I only wish my son and dil had a second car. I always say, just keep 'em alive til I get back. I plan to be gone for a bit longer this time though.

Take care, places to go and people to annoy

Tim, funny you say that. Ellie and I call the quilt I just did for her the "winter" quilt. It may be in reds and greens, but there is not one single specifically Christmas fabric on it.

If your son had that second car, maybe you could pop over to GA and visit me for a day.

Happy Birthday, Amy! And, sorry, Laura, missed your birthday last week, so Belated Happy Birthday!

Maretta is laying again after her extended broody period. Forgot how beautifully blue her eggs are.

I may rent a car but I'll be there for 5 weeks. Much to say and can't type it all but he sounded disappointed I wasn't going to be there for thanksgiving. So I changed dates to make both his promotion ceremony and thanksgiving. We've not spent a holiday together since he joined the military.

As for birthdays. To bad we can't have a set up so Birthday people automatically received a birthday wish. We wouldn't have to give our exact birthday just the month we were born in.

Happy birthday all,

Rancher

Thank you Cyn & Tim. Another year older, but unfortunately, none the wiser for it am I! LOL! OK, I know I'm not old enough to be senile yet.....but where the heck is the tool bar for this thread?!?!? Dang it! My computer is acting older than me now! :-/

I am sooo cold! It is currently in the 30s and I am not ready for it.

I am craving fall comfort food. One of my favorites is squash. Any of you have good squash recipes to share?
It is still warm here . its going to be 88 deg today. Looking for some cooler weather but not that cold. One of my squash recipes is soup. (stir fry onion, yellow squash and zucchini until almost done. season to your taste, put in a big stock pot and add chicken broth and simmer. you can add other veg. like swiss chard or kale to add more color.
