Perish the thought! Nope! Can't make me! Not going! Wild horses couldn't drag me! "You-know-where" will freeze over and I'll just strap on ice skates, thank you very much!! This is indeed home! And it took me half of forever to get myself comfy here! But it would be nice to have a second home away from home as it were, just in case the unthinkable should happen. I'm not sure what that would be.

And if you'll pardon the pun....it's best not to put all of ones eggs into one basket!

OK, I'll be back in a bit my little online chicken family! Time to go put the boys to bed. Just a few more days of this nonsense and then I won't have to go out there to put them to bed. But just because I don't HAVE TO, doesn't mean I'm not going to! That's our cuddle time! It will just be nice to know that they don't have to wait for me to be safe, warm and dry!

Serrin....cuddle time at bedtime? Heck that is all day here. If I am leaving or have to go outside for something I try to sneak out...9 out of 10 times a chicken sees me and then all of them are running to me. Brats!


Okay, gotta tell you guys what I did tonight. Some of you know that several weeks ago my chin and the 80 lb puppy's head collided with opposing force. Well this loosened 2 of my lower front teeth...one really loose. Dentist said "Leave it alone and see if it will tighten back up". Well that has been a no go and my plan was to go this week and have it pulled but I got sick so all week I have been playing with it with my tongue....rather annoying but not painful whatsoever. So, tonight I was pushing on it with my tongue why typing a post here and I absentmindedly took my finger and pushed sorta up on it. When I did, it popped out. I immediately threw my hand up expecting blood to be going everywhere and nope. It came out completely, painlessly and with minor bleeding. It absolutely does not hurt a single bit. I rinsed with warm salt water, saved the tooth for the Dentist but it was intact and the opening it clean and healthy so I just saved myself around $100 by doing an extraction myself.

Now the funny thing was...I did not anything to DH about it coming out so I said to his back "Honey, I am sick of this, I want you to yank this tooth out right now....hit me with something if you have to" and I am ranting. He is trying to soothe me saying things like "It's okay honey as soon as you are well I will take you and get it pulled. Do you want me to run to Wal-Mart for some of that numbing stuff?" I said "No" and I stood up in a huff and headed into the kitchen saying "I will yank the darn thing out myself with pliars" as I am opening my utility drawer in the kitchen where I keep a set of screwdrivers, pliars and etc. As he came bolting into the kitchen to stop me, I turned with pliars in one hand and the tooth in the other and he about dropped right there. It was all I could do not to completely bust out laughing at the look on his face as I said "What? I have felt worse, I have children"

He was absolutely a combination of stunned and puffy chested proud. It was like he wanted to to tell me I was crazy and had completely lost my mind and at the same time pat me on the shoulder and say "Well done, I expect nothing less from the wife of a green beret hooooah"

I waited a couple minutes before I told him what actually happened and he cracked up. He says he is going to blacksmith a medievil looking tool to take with us to the dentist and when he asks who pulled the tooth DH is going say "I got tired of her whining and complaining so I gave her a shot of whiskey, held her down and used this tool to rip it out!". hahahahaha I told him the tool must look like a medievil torture device. :lol

Ah yes, what is life or marriage for that matter with a sense of humor, even if it sometimes a sick one?

Now I wonder if I can save myself $2200.00+ by playing rough with the puppy and pulling my remaining teeth myself....then it would just be the dentures I have to pay for....feasible?

LH, you totally crack me up!!

Some of the antics you get up to are just positively diabolical! Ya know you got a little bit lucky there though, don't ya!?!? That could have had a very bad outcome. And what with you being sick right now, your immune system is probably already taxed to the hilt. That could have become an abscess in very short order

......I know, I know...preaching to the choir, huh? I'm just glad things worked themselves out in a relatively painless fashion. Nothing wrong with catching a break now and then, especially when it involves the saving of a few hundred bucks!

Did I say that bed time was the ONLY cuddle time around here? Oh my heavens NO! It's just the one time of the day that the boys are guaranteed of having my undivided attentions!

Cuddling can happen any time, anywhere! And usually without warning!!

Poor Chief! He's been known to have to endure the indignity of being scooped up suddenly, and in front of his ladies, to be cuddled, and hugged, and loved on by me. Yeah, I get the indignant squawk from time to time, if he really wasn't expecting it. But most of the time, he just coos his contentment!

He's such a beautiful boy, inside and out!

As for the other boys, Brutus, Red and CB, they get visits from me throughout the day as time and project breaks allow. Never is it as much time as I would like to spend with the boys, but we seem to get just enough time in to keep all of us happy for the most part!

And then of course there are the girls to contend with. They can be even more demanding of attention! And they don't know how to take no for an answer either!

Is it any wonder I have a heck of a hard time completing any outdoor projects around here?

So many chickens, so little time!

I'm jealous.....I only get cuddle time on the weekends. Who has time before or after work? Sigh. The last few days I have gone out after work and spent an hour outside piddling around and doing things. Ate taco bell out there the other day and the girls were jumping and snatching at the WRAPPER of my burrito as I was eating it. Little monsters......absolutely NOT because I was picking pieces of the tortilla off and handing them to my favorites, nooooo.....

Chicken sale this weekend.....decided to sell some of my girls that I like a bit and had planned to keep, in pairs with my extra boys.....at least they have a better chance of survival with other people, considering my hawk issues. Going to find a girl for EVERY extra boy and bring them all.....probably won't sell them all, but it'll be a good start. Once I get the numbers down a little, I am going to spend this weekend moving birds around and creating a couple covered areas. My large fowl are still going to be left in the big yard......decided to keep all "extra" large fowl roosters for now. I need all the hawk calls I can get. I think if I sell most of the rooster pen boys (8 boys in there, 2 are keepers), I can move all my bantam girls in there and string up some deer netting over it. The "babies" are going to move into my covered 8x8 pen with a rabbit hutch for nighttime. My little breeder tractor that they are in now will house a trio of bantams or a couple extra roosters. If I can get my 4x4 coop finished, I will use my extra fence panels to create a small covered pen and house another group of bantams in there.

the hawks just need to stay away for 1 more week..........

A couple of my "American" Orps that will be 6 months old in a week ..... I just love their lacing. I can hardly wait for them to start laying.

Oooooooo!! Purty INDEED! Purty hardly even scratches the surface. Kathy, those ladies are absolutely stunning!! That would be the "Blue" Orp, correct? I like the picture of the second one best. She's so much darker than her sister [?] and the lacing stands out so prominently! You'd think being darker that wouldn't be the case. But oh my gosh! What a lovely creature. Do these two have names Kathy?

Now, if you wanted to slip either of those two into my box, I betcha I could keep them pretty well hidden from Denny!

The first one especially looks so very similar to my GeeGee.

As seen here in a picture of GeeGee with Chief, taken about 3 months ago. And she just keeps getting prettier and prettier every day!

What do ya think? Other than her comb, could she pass for an orp??

Well everyone say a prayer for Bill and I, we are meeting the mortgage broker at 11am EST tomorrow morning to turn in our loan application and all this paperwork. If approved, then we have to do a flood certificate, a new appraisal a new inspection and then move from there. Meanwhile, our lease is extended for another year, or sooner if we get financing, beginning tomorrow so no moving for us. We really want to get the house and get busy on making it ours...so all prayers are appreciated.

OK!!! I get to meet Gloria Jean Saturday - and I hear a rumor Mr. and Mrs. Speckledhen may be there, too. Neener, neener, I get to meet with BYC people!!!

And Delaware people, I found the old Delaware club web site - the address got changed to something you would NEVER put with Delawares. I have contacted Chris Fernandes to see what is up with the club - does it exist anymore or not, etc. and to see if he wants to try to combine with the people here that want a club, or what. I will post more on one of the Del threads tomorrow, hopefully after I have heard from him.
