Hey Tim! I wanna see some pictures of the actual unit you picked up! The advertisement has me frothing at the mouth bad enough as it is!

Awhile back, there was a gal over on the other side of the state that had a similar unit for sale. Hers dated to around the late 1890's to early 1900's. Believe it or not, she sold the darn thing for over $600! You can buy a whole boat load of LG's for that kind of money!

Just think of all the Del eggs you could hatch then!

Scott, LH, y'all are at the top of my prayer list too sweeties!

Scott, if this is where God wants you to be, you'll get that job. If not, please take comfort in knowing that He has something much better in mind for you and your family. Our task is to accept what comes with equanimity and grace.

Cetawin: You ain't goin' nowhere and you know it!

You is just where you is supposed to be already! I'm not worried about your situation, but I'm still putting you in my prayers....more so that you can relax than anything else. Take a deep breath girl. This too shall come to pass. Just keep your chin up and and don't take any hooey off of anyone! They may not have a full idea of who they're dealing with, but something tells me they're getting a good number of hints!

Oh, and Tim....just remember....a few weeks ago, you were crying for this rain! Be careful of what you wish for Brother...you just might get it!

OK, what the heck am I supposed to do about this??? Y'all remember my saying a couple of days ago that I now have FOUR Pump House Princesses? Yeah. Those old girls of mine!
roll.png
Well, right now, at a little past 10:00 AM, Abigail, [Abby] my girl that was knocking on death's door about a month ago, is now trying to lay an egg.....on the card table in the pump house where she sleeps every night......
roll.png
She's perfectly content at the moment to scratch and dig at her bath towel that I lay down for her every night. But if I get up and leave the pump house, she comes looking for me and cries piteously until she can convince me to return to the pump house. She then gets back up on her card table and resumes her scratching and shaping of the bath towel to her liking!

I have work to do!! I can't be sitting here holding her wing so to speak! I even tried to get her to take care of business in the coop, thinking, and judging by her futile attempts to make the towel conform to her idea of a good nest box, that the coop would be just where she would want to be. That was all fine and dandy while I was in there watching over her. I figured it was ok to go about my usual morning routine once I had her settled. Oh no!! Far from it. 10 minutes later, she's back out in the yard, crying and carrying on like some lost little puppy or something!

And all the while, she gets just a little more frantic to find or make just the right place to lay her egg! What's a chicken mama to do????
hu.gif
She's pretty content at the moment, but I'm sure the instant I get up to go outside and start working, she's going to be right behind me, crying the whole way!

I keep checkin' in to see if LadyHawk has posted any news yet.

Those pump house princesses know exactly what they are doing!

I gotta tell ya, I am in HOT water here today. OK, yes, I did it. I did the unthinkable. BUT, I had to ....... I HAVE to make cuts, and I need room.

My friend from work (retired but works once in awhile) came out to get some chickens. I have given her some before, and she loves them. She is a farmer's wife. I have one Delaware girl who is absolutely poor breeding stock ..... BUT (her name is Sweetie for a reason) she is also the absolute sweetest girl in the world. She is the one that hugs us the most and faithfully lays her little pointy egg every day. I did it .... I gave her to Jo. Now, I know Jo will love her and snuggle with her and take good care of her. She will be loved.

Brittney made me feel like a heel, and started crying.

"Who is gonna stand on my feet when I throw out bread crumbs?" Mike got home (works in Wyoming) during the loading process, and he said, "What are you doing with Sweetie?" He is more reasonable, as at least he didn't start crying.

I am bad.

I know it.

Kathy....I'm in the same boat. Only got just so much room and the Barred Rocks and Columbian rocks are gonna be the "breeding program" here. I am down to 2 Dels (Pepper and Sugar) as the other 3 girls were the ones picking on Peppers waddles (like the issue Cyn had), 2 blue rocks, 1 splash rock, 2 silkies (soon to be gone I hope)...the rest are BRs and CRs and thats all I'll be raising going forward. Hind site is always 20/20, but I sure wished I hadn't gotten into "chicken math" and had so many different breeds at one time. My life would be much simpler right now

THAT is exactly what I am saying! (Isn't this cute? LOL)

Kathy, it is hard, but you have to do what you have to do - and Sweetie will be loved and hugged and have everything she needs. I am going to try to pick up a few steady customers for eggs, and Lizzie will go in a non breeding pen, otherwise I might have to face that same decision.

Scott, even if you don't have Dels, you will stick with us, won't you?

Where is LH? I hope all went well, and it's just stupid Hughesnet.
