...... I am doing it! I counted my chickens, and I am down to 161 now! I can do it, I can do it, I can do it ! ! ! I want less than 100 for winter. I gave up some mighty fine hens today,

which included Sweetie. All the Jersey Giant hens are gone now. Mostly I need to cut the back 3 pens of roosters. That would cut out another 25. Still to go: 6 Icelandics, 2 Silkied Ameraucanas, and I guess the 8 or so Buckeyes, 16 RIRs, and a few BCM hens will have to go too. They had all better go this weekend, before I change my mind. What about these Silkies? Oh my, they are soooo cute and soooo sweet. I have mama with 7 babies, Silver (original roo), and Henry (black) the daddy raising 4 adolescents. Here he is, with the 4 kids:

And the daily update on Mama Black and 7 babies:

OH, and guess what I got today .... these I am keeping for sure! Actually, Brittney has laid claim to them. 2 SLW, 2 BLRW and 1 black BLRW. Here is one .....

Well now I'm not sure which I have brooder or incubtor. I've seen one not the exact same thing for $795 on e-bay but then of course it depends on what people will pay don't it?

Now beleive me I did not want rain. I hate rain the drainage here is so bad there are puddles everywhere. I can't let the poor chickens out when it rains like it does. Then of course I thank God it could be worse. If you've seen the news of Pulaski NY they have floods. Pulaski is noted for Samon fishing and it's do flooded one store posted a sign that said. "Store Closed the salmon are in the basement." And they were! Pics showed salmon swimming in the basement. Lord have mercy!

I'm going to have a young man dig me a trench around the runs so the water drains better. They're high, just not high enough for my likeing.

Kathy - down to 161? Lord have mercy, woman! And you know what, you so rarely put up pics of your Del hens - you have GREAT black hackles on those two to the left in the yogurt pictures- wow! I can't wait till spring and we all get to see what our Dels can do in the breeding pen.

Tim, you never said if you wanted the NY Del breeder's number or not - I am thinking you didn't see my post?

Cynthia, I want more Ike daughters. I am whining. I like my girls. He needs more women anyway.

Cetawin, did you sleep well after your good day?

Scott, how soon will we know about your interview?

Good Morning y'all!!

Well, Abby finally did it. She finally laid her egg around 9:00 PM last night. And par for the course, it broke before it even hit the ground [or card table as the case is here!

Poor little darling. She just keeps trying, and just keeps coming up with this thin shelled dud.

**sigh** Oh well, at least it didn't go to waste. The dog got the insides and Abby and 'Rissy got the shell. I swear, it was absolutely rice paper thin!

Cyn, what can I possibly give this sweet little girl that could correct this problem? I always keep oyster shell available to them, and well stocked in several locations around the place. I've given them the shells from their own eggs. I'm about to resort to a Tums or Rolaids as a calcium source. I just don't know what more I could do!?!

Scott, if you even think about leaving us, we WILL send out the hounds and track you down! Be a good boy, stay put, and don't make me call out the flying monkeys!!! **Mwaahaaahaaaahaaaa**

Y'all have a great day!

gagalerslove, it stands for Society for Delaware World Domination. This thread, unlike the other Delaware threads, is more about the friendships that have arisen out of our common love of Delawares. This is where we keep in touch with each other and what's going on in our lives. If that sounds like something you'd enjoy, then pull up a chair and make yourself at home! Do you currently have Del's? Or are you like me, still pining away for the day when they can be added to the flock?

You can give me the number if you want but the name does not look familiar in the newest ed. of the ALBC book. Perhaps I'll wear a label at the convention with what breeds I'm interested in.

Kathy: I have two words for "hatching eggs". Ok four, hathcing eggs, how much.

Gotta go have a nice day folks.

Im so impressed that you can count 161 chickens! I may have that many, I really dont know. Once I get up to about 15, they all mix up and I have to start all over.

I could only count them on the roost. Just counted each pen and added em up.
I may have missed a couple, but that is close anyway.

Hey .... Have you guys checked out Serrin's BYC page lately? I can hardly wait for the next installment!

Tim, if you want eggs ..... PM me your address.
