Kathy - that Orp was HUGE so his fluffiness got lost in his size.


Janelle...after seeing adult bantam cochins today I have made a determination.....*drum roll* Hera is a small standard cochin. But I still want that pair in a couple/few months. LOL


What shocked me where the size of those Toulouss...those were geese were 3' x 8' goat pens! Sarah said "LH Holy nonsense would Fred be that big?" I said probably and we found an African goose and it was that big at 3 years old.

LH, since Hera is a small standard, you should get a standard cochin rooster also. LOL. SEE WHAT I DID THERE?!

Actually, I have a small standard cochin hen. Barred. She is the one who was half nekkid molting recently.

She looks 100x better now....haven't taken any new pix though. She even went broody once! And then a different broody stole her baby once it hatched....or what was it I said....she knew she didn't have enough feathers so she 'put it up for adoption'. Haaaaa. Anywho, she looks like a slightly larger bantam with long legs. Probalby similar to your girl. She is one of my original group....you could take her if you want Hera to have a friend.

I'll get new pix tomorrow. I've been wanting to get all my barred cochin girls together for pix.....I have 2 regular sized LF, 1 midget LF, and 1 true bantam. The midget is very bossy

BTW, your buff columbian boy was being a big ol jerk today. He wanted a piece of that poor shredded rooster so bad. I broke up a few fights, let the dogs break up a fight and then just turned the hose on them. He has little man syndrome, LOL.

We have only one real Alpha roo around here. I have just got to get a picture of him. I will do that tomorrow. Be prepared..............

I like bossy girls...she will fit right in here. Let's see the pics...You really need to come up one weekend and help me build my pens in my coop and for the bantams. LOL

Kathy - I have that too, finally since Thor passed away...Lancelot is in control right now...Severus will not even go near the playpen when Lancelot is outside...Lancelot is easily 2 of Severus. d'Artagnan is gonna be a big one too. And it should be interesting to see Lancelot and him all grown up...I do not think they will be pals at all.

Oh and I will get a picture of it...not saying where the eggs came from that Sarah bought and hatched Lancelot from but I will say this....Another seller rip-off. She bought Lavender splits and blacks. She got Lancelot who is dark blue and get this...I am doubting his pure breed status because he has red in his hackles appearing with his new feathers. I mean red as in RIR red. Not sun bleached brassy...it is red. But I am keeping him anyway as my flock roo and I will put d'Artagnan, son of Suede as my Orp roo.

I was so shocked when I saw his new hackle feathers and all that red but I love the big ole boy so he will just take over Severus' job or jointly with Severus if there are no major fights. Time will tell but I will try to get a picture of that red tomorrow.

LH, I had a couple Orps with that red leakage. I guess it just happens some times, I dunno. I do know that one of them came from Dick Horstman's stock, and another one came from different stock. So, I am thinking it is a problem that many come across. I dunno ....

I will see if I can find those pictures of the 2 of mine.
