Needed to make a quick run into town this a.m. A simple drive into town? I think not. We were rushing because I was expecting a package today from a very generous fellow quilter and didn't want my mail guy to have to open the gate and get in and out of his vehicle. So, we were in a rush to get to town and back in an hour. On the way, we encounter a poor spaniel running all over the highway, I think a Brittany? Anyway, she was obviously not street smart, but luckily only one car came from the other direction. She was in front of the car and would be road pizza if we hadn't stopped for her when we did. We saw she had a collar and it appeared to be an ID plate on it, so we stopped, grabbed the cheapie leash we keep in the car just for this type situation. She came to me when I called and let me pet her. Just as we were putting her in the car to go to the tire shop to call the man's phone number, a truck pulled up in front of us and it was luckily her owner! Whew! He said his SIL called to tell him she saw the poor dog running around on the road so he was frantic to find her--apparently she is from good hunting stock. Why the sorry SIL didn't try to corral her, I have no idea. Anyway, good deed done.
Pharmacy only has 10 of my thyroid pills, it's on backorder (why? I get this every month, as I'm sure many do here), so then we go there, to the courthouse to pay my car tag and my property tax on my extra two lots, the P.O. to mail out bill payments, then to the grocery store to run the aisles to scoop up their current sale items, then skip the little dept store we planned to go to because we were running too close to mail time. On the way back, we get behind someone in a dark Ford Focus, NC plates, weaving all over the road. This person had to be drunk; I mean, who can't keep a Ford Focus between the lines? She was on the left side of the road then back into the grass on the right--no idea is it was male or female due to the backrest. After several miles, the driver turns off, then we miraculously pass a Sheriff's cruiser, wave him down and sic him on the drunk driver, then are home in a few minutes. We let out the broody for her daily run, then within a very short time, up pulls Mike the mailman with my very heavy, HUGE package containing all manner of goodies for my quilt I'm working on.
Now, I have to keep from getting a headache from all the rushing around and the drama.
Oh, and I recandled Emily's eggs since it's Day 12. Removed one more, but the remaining three have bouncing babies in there. The two I had to remove must be ones that she let get too cold before she got the hang of what she's doing.
