Good morning all of my "fowl loving" friends!!!

I am packing to leave shortly for a LONG trip to the hunting club (this is one of the benefits to unemployment!!). Landon and I are leaving today, Jennifer, Colby and her mom are coming Wednesday and we plan to stay (weather permitting) until Sunday morning. For those of you wondering, its not really "roughing it" as we have a mobile home down there on about 10 acres...so accommodations aren't too bad. We'll just have Thanksgiving there instead of here this year

Everyone have a SAFE and wonderful Thanksgiving. We ALL have so much to be thankful for and I remind myself of that daily in spite of my current job plight. I am truly thankful for each and every one of you and I pray you will have a wonderful holiday.

Until my return, be thankful and have fun!

Scott, you idea of roughing it sounds like it's right up my alley!

I'll swap ya hunts one of these days. Y'all come up here for some awesome Muley hunting and Denny and I will come down to your place for some great hog hunting. Deal? Heck! If ya really want to rough it, we'll even let ya use the little cabin or the travel trailer. You can get that whole "roughing it" hunting lodge feel!

Drive careful dear, and don't forget the camera. Pictures, or it didn't happen!

Kathy, I only started in chickens in 2009 as well. February! It's hard work being a chicken lady, I'm not gonna lie

I did learn to cover all large freckles and/or moles. I have a bloody picture from very early on in my chicken career when I was sitting in a pen with my whopping 8 juvenile chickens and the jersey giant gal tried to eat the bug on my arm aka a mole.........ow. Blood was running down my arm and pooling at my elbow. Crazy chicken.

The broody mom with one baby (leghornX) that i booted back out to the main flock yesterday is doing well. Even after about 6-8 weeks of sitting on a nest and being in a brooder outside of the coop, first day back out she was way up high in the coop next to one of her twin sisters at closing time. She is over being a momma apparently. She was still being motherly in the brooder, but even a couple weeks ago she was failing at being a good mom out in the big yard. So, she is out and about enjoying being a chicken and the baby is doing great in the brooder with Cetawin's girl and her kids. They really do all look like roosters, LOL.

Interestingly enough, my Jersey giant rooster x White Leghorn hen crosses were sex linked to some extent. All girls were white with black feather patches and DARK legs. All boys were solid white or white with barred feather patches and yellow legs. Very interesting.

ISNT THAT NEAT? I thought that was the neatest thing ever. I really LOVED that cross. Everyone should make their own LOL.

Not sure if the same will hold true for the two "yellow" chicks in this batch as I have no idea the true cross. Judging by the blueish feathers coming in as splashes on them, I think the blue cochin roosters are the dads but still no idea on the moms. ANYWAYS, of the two "yellow" chicks, one has dark legs and one has yellow legs. If the same holds true that means i have 1 girl and 1 boy.

Which means of the 6 chicks that Cetawin's girl has......5 boys, 1 girl. I added the chick from the LeghornX broody, which is a boy. So I have 6 boys and 1 girl so far. YAY ME.

Yes I remember...I believe some of us were devising a Cynthia Slingshot to zing you from porch to coops for time with the children. If I recall correctly, firing you down the hill was the easy part it was getting you back up we never solved. *snicker*

That Zane is so handsome....and such a love.

I enjoyed seeing all the pics...nice to be able to put a face with the names. Here is one taken yesterday of me holding my great nephew Bubba. My family was celebrating my sisters birthday at the bowling alley. Once again she is older than me. We are the same age for two months out of the year. Since I am unable to bowl I got to be the baby holder.

Laura, that's a great picture! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Cyn, that has always been one of my favorite pictures, too! Love it!

Well heck yeah! Who do you think is taking all of those pictures? Believe me, the photo fairies know better than to take my picture. I'll sick the chickens on 'em if they do!

Besides, like I said earlier, I don't need a bill from everyone for fried monitors caused by loading pictures of my ugly mug!

But I will eventually post a recent picture of me. I just have to get around to having Annie do that for me. Denny is technologically challenged when it comes to digital cameras
