Thank you all! Kathy, I sure hope so! joletabey- Yes, it's horrible! My feed store does a pretty good job, but it is still a little disappointing seeing that a lot of their chicks get cocci, from pooping in their waterer- which is a bug tub

They could drown! And they certainly need to know a thing or two about diseases in general. Oh my... I will be sure to hand out some flyers. I am totally with you on all that bull that kids think about chicks. It'd be nice if their parents took any thinking to it. My neighbors got the "chicken idea" from me, and let their 4 year old have a chick. GOD my mom and I were mad. He SLEPT WITH IT ON HIS PILLOW, AND KILLED IT.

Hope it's okay with you all to post these here. Tim (RancherHicks) was asking about my Coronation Sussex crew. Here they are, growing like crazy!

Kathy I love the flock!! Where did you get those sussexes? And your blue orps are GIANT!

And joletabey... one more question... tractor supply has chicks?

Nick, most TSC carry chicks in the spring at least- did I misread your post, and you will NOT be at a Tractor Supply Co.? Sorry- sometimes my feeble middle aged brain sees what it want to see -

LIKE THE SIGN ON KATHY'S BR SAYING " I need to live with Beth" - anyone else see it?

Seriously, Kathy, she is a pretty, pretty thing-

No, my feed store is not tractor supply. It's a one-place small, organic business. It really is great. Lol, your brain is fine as I can tell! But I did not know that TSC carried chicks. The nearest one here is pretty far away. I am in the BUSIEST, most sky-scraperish part of the city. Ugh. But on the bright side, my urban yard is the length of an acre!

I'm dogsitting two dogs tonight. A chocolate lab and a yorkie. And the yorkie won't stop humping the lab...

I'm a bit late to the party here but wow! So glad Sarah is okay! that looks like a mess. My dad drives trucks and met her at the Sadieville swap this summer, so I had called to tell him about it. He is surprised she made it! Flipping trucks and especially ejectrions usually are not a good ending.

Kathy, I'll at your place to pick up all of those birds asap please. thanks! Seriously, those barred rock ladies are gorgeous. Can I just admit now that I have never had a good ol regular black barred rock? I had a blue barred rock rooster, blue rock hen and splash rock hen. And have that blue rock/dellie girl from Scott. But never a "regular" barred rock.

I had to do some rearranging tonight. The barred cochin hen and her daughter were complaining about each other through the baby gate and the babies could go back and forth.......PLUS, a certain broody bantam cochin of mine has started to lay the smack down on her 2 black rooster children. Not sure whats going on there, but I definitely needed to move that batch into a different brooder. She had those 2 boys on the opposite end from the heat lamp and its just too cold for that. So they got moved into the left half of my bottom brooder shed, where there is a high roost only momma can reach and a nice heat lamp right in the middle where it will keep everyone warm and alive, even if boys get banished to the outer reaches

And I got pix, of course.

Barred cochin momma and her 6 babies. The 3 I lost were the blue, the poofy cheeked black and the other black. Sigh. The black that survived is tiny....looks either runty or maybe mixed with bantam.

Babies all tucked in and warm.

Originally I thought I had 5 of 7 roosters....Now I am thinking 1 of the blacks may be a girl. So 4 boys and 3 girls...That wouldn't be the worst split ever. I am going to definitely keep the BIG black boy and all the girls. Pretty funny if I end up with 1 black girl, 1 blue girl and 1 splash girl from that batch LOL.
