I will do that Kathy.

Everytime I look at the roof and rear of the cab torn away I want to cry...thank heavens she was thrown out of that truck.

She is still a hoot even in pain...she said "The doc told me that I had a brain and it was normal" after he examined her and all then she said "So I told him I wanted a second opinion on that". LOL

I said "So Sarah with that big ole swollen eye does these mean no glamour shot appointments today?" she busted out laughing saying "ummmmm noooooooo don't think so"

Hugs and prayers for Sarah- Thank the Lord indeed that she is not hurt any worse- do pass on my best thoughts for her recovery, too!

I do not know Sarah, but I love all BYC members! So sorry to hear that and I'm glad that she's safe! That truck looks MESSED UP!

Okay, well I went to my feed store to get some more for my girls, and I am the store's most valued chicken customer. I'm in there ALL THE TIME. So I visited with all the employees, and there were some people there looking at some chickens. They just got 20 BR pullets (and Cyn, this is in Buckhead!). Well I decided to tell the people all about where they got them from, the breed, chickens in general, why to have them etc. And it went on for a good 45 minutes. Well then I went inside and the owner of the store told me about this event they're doing about urban farming. He asked me if I could prepare a five or ten minute talk, set up a booth, talk about chickens and then do a class for little kids on raising them. I said sure! So I'll be in charge of the chicken area. Wa-hoo!! I'm so excited! And while I'm there I'll do a little BYC publicity

Anybody have any ideas of what I should talk about in my speech, besides "chickens are awesome"?

Nick- congratulations!!! Good for you - who knows, you may land a job there one of these days. See if you can educate the employees about keeping the chick's water and feed clean- there have been countless complaints, and some from people on this thread about going to tractor supply and seeing the chicks kept in filth, with their water so full of dirty shavings they cannot drink - you would get a crown in heaven if you could just get that taken care of -

But with kids? BASIC CARE. What is proper shelter (not a cardboard box in the yard) what is proper nutrition (not scratch tossed out randomly) clean water (not the wading pool, the creek out back or the neighbors pond which is guarded by a big dog) all about predators, and how to keep chicks safe.(back to the big dog) How EVERYTHING except cows, horses and goats like chicken for dinner- that cute little chicks grow up to be big chickens, some of whom will crow. You would be surprised at the nudninks that buy chicks because they are cute, without the least idea how to care for the poor little things. I think you should, if you can afford it, print up basic chick care handouts. Tell them it is a long term committment, but also include how satisfying that can be- hey, you are on stage, you act- this will be great fun for you!

Nick that is awesome! I know many people in livestock supply = cages - etc - you might be their future best salesman! How do you think i get half my supplies and cages AND THINGS - DOnt forget me when you are big

That tractor - WOW! i am grateful she made it out ok!

Inkheart,
You really got a deal at that auction! Lana Turner, Jean Harlow .... oh yes, I do remember those hour glass figures! Perfect name! Barred Rock rooster over New Hampshire hen, that is how the Dels were created, yes.

Have fun at the Christmas parties and gallery hops! Sounds like a great time, for sure!
