I think I have about 40 eggs in there, and 20 in the New Years hatch. Of the 40, I have 10 out already .... due tomorrow. 4 Icelandics out, 1 Delaware, 5 BCMarans. Many pips in there, including 4 Silkies I see.

How many you have left to go, Brandon?

Only 9 in this batch. I don't candle so not sure how many are viable. At least 5 that I know of, lol

I think i'd be happy with just five, lol . That will put me at 54 chickens total. But if all 9hatch it will be fine.

She has silkies....they are obviously not part of this bird! Bantam wise, that might be it. Silkies, cochins, frizzles, sizzles, silchins......

As far as large fowl goes......a lot of everything. Marans (blue copper, black copper, cuckoo, golden cuckoo), Welsummers, Aracuanas, Easter Eggers, Wyandottes, etc etc. It could be nearly anything! I sent her the pix tonight, so we'll see what she thinks. She is working on the mille fleur cochins, and those crosses often throw weird colors. HOWEVER, i tell ya, her cochins all have GREAT type. This dude does not. I think he came from the wrong side of the tracks!

My niece has way too much fun here.....tormenting all the animals. They are all exhausted LOL.

Well ya know, Nella, weird things do happen in poultry genetics. Maybe he is just one of those things! Those are SOME feathered shanks! LOL

WOW

You got any broodies setting now?

Hey, Brandon, how many coops you got built now? Need more yet?

Norman is 15-16lbs usually....he goes to the vet twice a year for bloodwork and he is always in the 15lb range. 15.2, 15.4, etc. I didn't ask the last two times, so not sure what it was. He looks the same as always though. He is very long and lanky......not big and fat. He is just overall big. He is so long that while my niece was holding him, he was "walking" along with his back legs. He was not impressed.

Lucy was "over" the child as well....she is VERY tolerant, especially for a cat in a new situation with a "brand new" kid. But all cats have their limits! She did bite my niece in the hand right after that pic was taken....not hard, just a warning nip. Lucy went back to the shelter today to get remicrochipped....hers FELL OUT last week after I got her home. Whoops! She was not happy about going there, but was sure happy to be back home! Lucy and Norman still aren't terribly thrilled with each other, but they are getting better every day. She spends ALL DAY in that bed in the cat scratcher....it is right at window level, so she spends all day watching the chickens and ducks out back. She is SO happy. Such a sweet kitty.

I am currently on the couch with Norman on the right side of my lap and Lucy laying on the couch to my left. I'm so very happy I adopted her

On a sidenote, Lucy very much reminds me of my old black cat that stayed living with my parents in California. Her name? Penny! Aka Penelope. Small world, eh? Norman sleeps in bed with me at night, under the covers. Spoiled rotten little monster. He has had urinary problems and seizures since he was a year and a half old......He will be 10 this early spring....can't say I thought he would make it this long! Spoiled might not even describe the King's life that he leads.

I still have my struggling frizzle. I need to take a better look at her and see if she maybe can go back out in the yard. Right now at least she is in a brooder so gets her very own food and water.

Mama Barred Cochin still has her 6 kids. She is still doing a great job. All other broodies have been booted back out to the main yard/flock. The little white silkie broody is even laying again already.

All the other chickens are happy as always. Still working on downsizing! If I have 64 birds currently....and will keep the 12 female chicks.....that makes 76. So I need to sell 26 to get down to 50.

Sigh. LOL.

Wow, you're doing great! I am going to give it another week since I have a few sales "in the works" then I am going to add em all up and do some "fire sales" on craigslist. Going up to Ohio in January for a long weekend and would love to have LESS by then.
