Nick, if you buy that, you're nuts boy! You can do a heck of a lot better for a $75 budget. And Nella would be just the person's brain to pick on ways to go about building just about anything. You listen to her! She won't steer ya wrong!

Nella, we do have a snow blower, and a tractor too. But the tractor slammed herself into two gears simultaneously a year ago when Denny's foot slipped off the clutch suddenly. We simply haven't had the time to fix it. The snow blower, while a very good old work horse, can't handle what we have right now. If we had had another layer of packed snow under this new snow, things would have been fine. But, all of the packed snow melted away over the last few days. And now there is nothing to stop the snow blower from digging in too deep and start picking up gravel from the driveway. The last time she did that, she threw her sheer key and snapped her chain in the process. It's amazing how much damage just one small rock can do to one of these beasties!

Anyhow, conditions just aren't right for using it. And the wind is blowing like a Banshee right now. We've got two and three foot drifts over our own driveway in places right now. I took Denny, down at the end of the driveway, a cup of hot cocoa just a short time ago. Pine Springs Road is totally pooched! There's well over a foot of snow on that! Thank heavens for all of our trees up here on top of the knob. They hold back a great deal of the snow! Makes for easier shoveling!

Oh you know it Cetawin! I ain't budging from our home! I'll just keep myself entertained with keeping the pathway from the house to the coop clear for today.

Is there any other kind? DD has a cat here and i'm not very fond of cats just now. Gets on the counter and cries terrible. She used to be the only baby in their house and now that the queen has been born she been replaced . I hate her. She got the tuna last night and I told DW to put it away. She's gotten the butter and some cheese and I was madder than a ...............................I don't know but I nearly lost my salvation. She's skinny (the cat) as a rail eats and is older than dirt. Must be 21. This cat will never die. I paid $3 for her as a kitten and it's the worst $3 I ever spent. The only things that like her are her fleas.

Cammy reminds me of my Jody, got her off a mail route. Story goes she and Missy a poodle mix lived under a porch on my mail route. Poor things. So it came that every time I delivered i bring a pouch of food for them and they'd see me at the end of the street and come running. So one day after work I came to the house and took Jody, left a note that I was coming back for the dog. I did and adopted Missy out to friends. The girl who lived there was "babysitting" them but the owners never came back. That was years ago and Jody has gone to the cat box in the sky. I miss her sometimes. DW used to say if I brought home another cat she'd move out, but she's still here lots of cats later. Must be she sees something good in me.

Thanks for showing Cammy and making me feel bad. (just kidding).

Love ya still

aw, I think your kitty is CUTE Ms Kathy. My mom's cat Buffy is a dilute calico....where she has peach instead of orange and gray instead of black. She is a brat.

Come on. Admit it! You love that little fur ball!!!! At the very least, you have to respect her. Any cat that can survive that long is worthy of at least respect!

Nick, keep looking sweetie! You can do far better than that as well! Think in terms of building from scratch. Have you paid a visit to the incubator designs page yet? There are some awesome set ups there! And I'm pretty darn certain that you can find one that you too can build for yourself. And we're talking pennies on the dollar compared to the route you're contemplating.

Keep looking sweetheart!

Kathy, I so wish you had a better rapport with kitties. Your little Cammy is absolutely beautiful!!! I love Calico Cats! Can't make up your mind what color of cat you want? Get a Calico! You get all of the colors!

She really is a pretty little thing. Why do you say she is fat? She doesn't look fat to me. Just very fluffy! Aw geesh! Does this mean we have to go through that whole Fat vs. Fluffy thing again?!?!?

Nella, your story of Norman crawling in under the covers with you makes me almost believe in reincarnation! Gracie has been gone long enough you know. Maybe this time she thought she'd try life from a male point of view?
lol.png
Maybe Norman has a wee bit of Norma lurking in him there somewhere?

OK, I gotta run y'all. The snow finally stopped sometime around 2:00 this morning and I must get to the base. Right after I take care of chickens. And OMG! IT IS COLD OUT THERE!!!

Take care and I'll catch up with y'all later this evening. Have a great day folks.

Well this just happened to me too! The lady and kids that bought a group and even emailed me to let me know how happy they were with the "girls" saw my newest ad and emailed me to say they wanted the rest of my bantam hens. She said her son had said that they should have just bought ALL my hens......and then she saw my sale ad....so hopefully she will follow through and get the rest of my girls. They were really nice and I'd love to see the rest of my girls go to live there......not to mention get to reunite with all their old buddies.

That will just leave all the extra large fowl birds for sale. I think about 15 total. And some roosters. Stupid roosters.

Oh sure, Nella's goes down and mine go up. I got 23 in the brooder and 17 from the last two hatches and a hen sitting on 4 or 5. I'd be surprised if she hatched any she was off the nest today and it's cold, but I've been surprised before.

Ta, ta for now

Wellllllllll.......I have 26 chicks in the brooder. Keeping 12, so have to sell enough to make room for them LOL. I just really want to be done with these bantams. I hate having to worry about the hawks. At least the big birds have a fighting chance with this smaller hawk I have here......I even offered to give this person my pair of d'uccles if they wanted them. We'll seeeeeeee......I bet they would take my silkie/ee hen and my cochin/ee hens....ooh.......they are bearded and adorable.

Alright, sounds like 13 will go this weekend then. YAY. That will knock me down to 51 adults.
