Oh, yeah, the apple orchard in Blue Ridge, you mean? Mercier? Big time draw around here. That's about 15 miles from me, I'm at the top end of Fannin County, less than a mile from the NC border. There are a couple of orchards, though. Mercier is in Fannin and some others are in Ellijay in Gilmer County.

Not even a Nugget egg? Or maybe a fertile Riley egg? What about Fern's? Oh no!! Please tell me you'll make a few exceptions come spring Cyn! Please! Oh please!!! I'd so love to see Maggie hatch a few of your girls eggs out!

And I still have my incubator, ya know!

Kathy, please don't let go of Jacob just yet. He's such a beautiful boy! Couldn't he be very happy just taking care of the layer pen? I'd really hate to see him go to someone else and we loose sight of that wonderful boy! I know it's tough when you have so many other great boys, but I hope you can find a way to keep him as well.

Knox! OMG! Are you OK? How badly did you get rear-ended? Are we talking a minor fender bender, more of a nuisance than anything? Or did your poor car get wiped out? Pictures dear boy! Pictures! I sure hope you have good insurance! That's one of those things that I always worry about out here. People driving too dang fast for conditions and not paying attention to what's going on ahead of them! Gawds! I just want to slap them when I see them! Especially when they're just a yacking away on their cell phones!!

Nick, look around online. I think there are some good translator websites out there so that you can at least get an idea of what your aunt is saying!
lol.png
It might make for some good bonding time too. Just you and your aunt at the computer, sharing words back and forth!

Well, it's raining here.
tongue.gif
I HATE rain!
tongue.gif
I DESPISE rain!

I also really loath MUD!!

And right now, I've got both!

Rain, rain, go away! Come back again sometime in May!
tongue.gif
Or, better yet, next November would be nice!
lol.png
But, it's all good. We'll be back to the deep freeze by tomorrow night and all the mud will freeze solid!
wee.gif
And then by next Thursday and Friday, they're saying that we could have a really BIG snow storm!

Oh how I hope so! Snow is so much easier for me to deal with!

The only thing I'm worried about is that this is all happening at the same time that Chief was going to be able to go back to his girls. I think, just to be on the safe side, I'm going to keep him in the pump house for a few more days. At least until the temperatures moderate to something a bit more normal....like around 25 - 30F. I don't think it would be a good idea to shove him out the door when we're facing temps in the minus zone again. Poor guy! He's sooooo ready to go back to his girls, RIGHT NOW!

Well, where is everyone?

I am happy to report I have ONE fertile Barred Rock egg in the bator!
ya.gif
Up until now, none have been fertile. I am soooo excited! I have at least a dozen project eggs incubating, too. I will continue to incubate through out the winter, at least the Barred Rocks. I will stop after 40 or so from the project pen, I think.

I'm here!!

I'm here!!

Not sure just what I'm doing here, but I'm here!!

And I'll probably be popping in and out all day. Or at least until I get started in on doing some tile work in the guest bathroom. Which reminds me......................................................Yack at y'all later!

I am here, just poping in for a few minutes while DH is napping on the sofa. I finally got thawed out .... it was negative 8 degrees this morning at 8 am. I don't like these cooooold temps

I was wondering, do y'all put vaseline on your roosters combs and wattles when it gets so cold? I have been doing it but my welsummer rooster has such huge wattles that they have gotten a little frostbitten.

I do put vaseline or bag balm when the temps are dropping into the teens, but don't when I make them stay inside. If they go outside in windy cold weather, I do put it on the roosters' combs and some on the ladies with larger combs.

BTW, something is terribly wrong with my husband. He just said maybe we should incubate some eggs from Suede's women, that by the time I do my big hatch in March, Suede may not be fertile, seeing that he is four years old and fertility in that bunch is in and out anyway. What do I do? Take his temp?

See, LH wants a Suede son and I may be able to get one for her (or more, LOL) and take him to her at the big hullabaloo in KY in May. Suede ain't getting any younger and right now, he's friskier than normal, so this may be the best time. I have 5 eggs from Dusty and 5 eggs from Smoky.
