In pure BRs, sexing is easy, but with the crosses, it's not quite that way. Will be following your project with interest, Kathy. Our D'Uccle experts here think my little cockerel is a Blue Mille Fleur (as opposed to an actual blue, of course). I'm going to need a name for that little critter. If the other two are pullets, and I'm very sure one is, then they'll stay and I'll keep one porcelain D'Anver rooster from the March hatch and a couple of girls for him and they'll all live together in the old hens' coop with the big girls. When I want pure eggs, I'll separate out either the D'Uccles or the D'Anvers. At least, that's the plan. I can't help but wonder how Shadow will react to a rooster her own size. She used to follow Dutch around like a lovesick puppy, but he would never mate her. Isaac would chase her down for romantic purposes and probably kill her because he does not discriminate due to size, not when there is a pretty girl involved. Told DH last night that a Princess needs her subjects, so Shadow will get a pint sized entourage to pal around with and boss around. It's going to be fun...that is, if we can get to spring and see the ground again.
