Topomax gave me double vision on a VERY low dose....hated that stuff

Almost worse than the migraine itself....I gave it up several years back. I don't take any regular preventative drugs....only the Migranal when I feel one coming on. Its a nasal inhaler and seems to work pretty well. I think my mother takes Inderol (spelling) as a preventative

Good luck....I hate those darn things

I have been to many "specialists" and have kept logs - yet to find out what my triggers are - what are yours? Luckily mine only seem to happen once to twice a year -

Yuck, sorry to hear that cynthia. Even without a migraine ER visits are exhausting...I was there TWICE last year. Actually fell asleep in the bed the last time I was there.....

The last 9 sold birds are leaving today. I did go ahead and move the exbroody Barred Cochin hen back out to the flock, plus my blue mottled cochin bantam, the blue rock/dellie girl, plus 4 11 week old boys and 4 11 week old girls. I actually have an EMPTY PEN with hutch and now 4 empty brooders. Good lord, what is this world coming to? i spent over an hour outside doing chickenly things....just catching those 9 birds and toting them up the hill was an effort. Also unloaded 200lbs of scratch and the last 2 bales of shavings, refilled 200lbs worth of feed from bags to the tubs and even carried 1 of the bags of brooder mess up the hill to the front. I figure with 5 bags, if I just carry 1 up the hill every time I come back up from chicken chores, i should have them all out front by trash day on Wednesday. And on a sidenote, who needs an elliptical when you are carrying 50lb+ trash bags up a hill covered in snow and ice? Not I.......Might need a chiropractor, but sure don't need an elliptical.

My yard looks empty without those 9 birds! 3 were bantams but the other 6 were HUGE cochin sized birds. 4 pure cochins and 2 cochin/brahmas that were the same size and just as fluffy. It's amazing that even with 30 birds out in the yard (not counting the younguns) it still looks empty! I remember back in the day when I had 90 birds loose in the big yard (not to mention growout pens and brooders full of birds)

Cynthia dang it I am so sorry. I know how horrible that is. I am telling you and Scott...try the accupuncture!

Re: the Topomax My husband was on that stuff after he was hurt in the military...OMG the sweating and nightmares were horrid. He ruined sheets constantly. The Colonel (Neurologist) that was taking care of him called it "Dopomax" and took Bill off it. He said it was a horrible drug.

Cynthia have you tried the aborter Zomig? That works great for Bill. You cannot take more than 2 in 24 hour but it has never taken more than 2 to stop them.

I've been on Amyltript-something, Topamax and Maxalt at one time or another. I dont get these often, but when I do, I make a trip to the ER after taking everything in the home arsenal. Problem is when the nausea begins, can't take anything so have to get a shot or an IV.

Cyn,
the ZOMIG really worked for me too. Add a cup of strong coffee and I was tired but much better. I would add an ice pack and never lay down. That laying down made it worse. I had them terrible as long as they gave me any kind of pain killer. Even advil would bring one on. It was the slight sedative affect that would trigger it and make it worse. If I get real happy or real sad the day after I will get one. Also if my sugar goes to low it will bring one on. I use to live with them every morning of my life and I really thought no one could hurt that bad and there not be a tumor or something about to burst up there. It was just existing for a long time. Then we found the Zomig. Gradually mine have gotten less over the years. I hope yours will too. I will have you in my thoughts.

to you dear lady. I hope you're feeling much better today. I'm sorry, but I have no advice for you. I'm one of those wretchedly lucky people who have never experienced a migraine to the best of my knowledge. Yes, I've had some real bangaroo headaches, but nothing that a fist full of aspirin couldn't handle, so I very much doubt they could have been categorized as a migraine. I hope you can find something soon that can ward off one of these attacks without causing almost as much disruption and discomfort as the migraines themselves!

Now then, if you wanna talk about insomnia, I'm your girl!

There's not much to say for me, except I have play rehearsal for 5 1/2 hours today! And the chickens won't eat out of their new feeder.. Bleh... Am irritated... Bye.

I'm better today, if a bit woozy from the meds. Tomorrow, hope I can go with Tom to town to pick up shavings, straw, feed, bread and meds. Supposed to begin raining around noon and I hope it holds off till we get the stuff home in the truck. The coops need to be completely cleaned out, including Nugget's, after them being housebound for two weeks. So much snow left to melt here! Now, it's a slushy mudslick out there.

I will re-candle the BBS Orp eggs tonight, providing my hand is steady enough, to see if there is any hope for them at all. Today is Day 8. If not, maybe I can try with a new batch. May have to wait for my March hatch, but that won't give me sufficient time to see who's male and who's female before the get-together in May.
