Yup! Chief is the baby daddy.

Now, as to what Chief is, well, that's any body's guess!

Maybe y'all can figure that out from a good picture of him? Here he is at almost 20 weeks. Gosh! Ya think I need to get out there and get some new pictures of him??

He hasn't changed all that much in appearance, other than to fill out considerably since that picture was taken. As for who mama is?

Oh boy!! That's a lot harder to say! Though I admit, I am having this sneaking suspicion that she just might be GeeGee's chick after all.

I know it's hard to see, but if you look very carefully at Gooby's comb, it almost looks as though she has GeeGee's comb up front, that flows into a single comb like Chiefs, towards the back end of it. It's probably just too dang early to tell. Take a look and see what y'all think.

Sorry for the poor quality of this pic. This was the very first time that Gooby has been out of reach of her mother!

I so hope you're right Cyn, and that due to her jumbled up genetics, there is still the possibility for Gooby to be a little girl!

Still not the right angle, Nick. Here are some pics for you to compare, okay?

Del cockerels; note the speckles down the back, between the wings, and of course, the combs are obvious at three and four weeks old:

These four were the hatchery stock Dels I culled for aggression and flightiness. Male on each end, two pullets in the middle--they are four weeks old in this picture:

Amy, it could go either way, but when you most want a pullet, it will be a cockerel, LOL!

Aw crap! I didn't even consider the reverse psychology angle!

ya think I should start calling her a "he" and change the name to Goober? Maybe it's not too late?

Actually, if I had to call it from the pics you just posted, I would say male. When there are a few breeds in there mixed together, especially if it's like Chief with at least two in him, plus the mama, it's harder to make a hard and fast rule about sexing by any trait like a head spot.

Alright, just took some really good ones, from the ones you posted. I'm importing them into my computer- used the camera, not phone.

And wow, I can notice the difference in coloring between the hatchery stock and others very easily.

Just finished herding the chickens all through the yard- I forgot the leaf mean were coming.
