Kathy as long as the 4 legged on is at least part Delaware.

speckledhen just look for the girl that's walking funny. I had an aunt had a 12 pound baby she never did walk right after that and for some reason my uncle moved out.

BO was off the nest and I listened to the eggs for peeps. One could be heard to pick the others not so sure. They are due tomorrow so I hope they hatch or I may have to fire up the bator cuz I'm going to get some new Del hens if I have to sit on eggs my self. Seems like all I get are roos. I've scheduled Nick to have his testoterone level tested cuz it may be a tad to high.

I have three roo chicks running around and two don't look like they have any barring in their tails. What's up with that?

The new PP is out and I was reading in the BYP mag about hens going through menopause. What's up with that?

Well take care

Gotta go see if there are anymore eggs. They just don't seem to lay as well when they range in the yard. I've checked everywhere for signs of eggs but nothing in the yard and only 8-9 in the nests. I just don't get it. Guess I have to take my own advice that they don't lay everyday or every other day around here.

Good Lord Help me Jesus!

a 12 lb baby??

Guess she didn't want any kids after that one!

Hens going through menopause? They sure are misusing words, if you ask me. It's a bit different with hens!

Well now I don't know much about menopause except I end up with all the blankets, then I lose all the blankets, then I get all the blankets again, then I lose all the blankets again, then I get mad and go sleep on the couch.

Seriously that kid was so big he came out wearing a new pair of Buster Browns.

If that girl doesn't lay for a week after that, I couldn't possibly blame her one bit! Poor girl! That had to HURT!!!

Brittney wanted me to thank you all for her well wishes. She is doing very well now, and is even outside enjoying the chickens. She told me she got into a discussion with someone the other day about incubating. This person was saying he lost his hatch because he washed out the incubator with soapy water, and the soap killed all the eggs. She was quick to tell him the proper way to clean an incubator, and told him he had his humidity all wrong (thus the no hatch). Then, she told me, "I know way to much about chickens, Mom."

Here is Brittney with our black Jersey Giant, "Mr. Black." He used to have a very nice comb, until Banjo (the Alpha JG) chewed on it. Brittney just loves this guy.

Thanks, Beth.

Well, it now appears she has taken over the guest house, and Brock has moved back to Iowa. We will see how long this one lasts.

It seems there is a revolving door here. When one leaves, another one takes over.

Why is Brock moving? Don't mind my snoopiness, but heading back to Iowa when winter is coming?

Brittney looks so tiny -either that or that chicken is really a monster!
