The broodies are coming! The broodies are coming! Emily, my black Rock, the one who quit on Day 17 last year, sat on a nest for about 7 hours today, then left. Now, Tiny, my half blind Ameraucana/Sumatra girl, laid her egg and left the nest, but later, got back on and is threatening to remove my fingers, not that unusual since she is a nest-guarder, but she never goes back later after she has laid for the day. It's that time of year, I'm afraid.
It's hot enough today that I turned off the heat lamps and cracked the top of a window in the coop with the two-week-old babies. They are all over the place in every corner, eating, drinking and sparring.
