It's official. Emily, my black Plymouth Rock, is broody again. Last time was in November when she abandoned the eggs at Day 16/17. Getting the broody pen ready underneath Zane, but I have only two eggs of a purebred nature to put under her, one from Dusty and one from Smoky. Last ones I cracked all looked fertile, including Meg's, but I've thought that before on Dusty's, so who knows?

You guys have to see my babies today! Check out the thread in Raising Chicks.

Amy that stinks. Sorry! My feedstore changed the name to EE's off my info, I love them (the employees, not EE's.).

Cyn, I love the pictures! Oh, I can hardly wait to see them all grown up!

I am rehoming Amelia and Zucchini... They are going to my best friend. I only want friendly chickens here, from now on. My friend's chickens are already evil, so she doesn't really care. That makes room for more!

I went to see this coop someone has for sale... Ummmmmm it was pink and TOO cute... EWW EWW EWW I think not. The person's chickens had no feed or water, and were all Silkies and bantam Cochins... Poor things.

Ya ever get the feeling that our winters might just be a tad bit too long up here?

I'm going to pluck and eat Emily, I swear. Maybe alive.

She let the eggs get ice cold so I kicked her butt out of the broody pen and put her back in the main flock. Nugget on the other hand, is on a nest and when I reached under her to check for eggs, she bit me, very un-Nugget-like. Maybe she's going broody. At least I can trust her.

Laura, the first time we lived in Utah, we got snow on June 2. Does that make you feel any better?

You experienced chicken folks, could you look at this for me? https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=6212336#p6212336

Cyn, I'm not an experienced chicken folk, but I had a laying hen have that exact stuff come out. She didn't lay for the next few days, then all was well.

It wasn't as bad as your case, though.

Wow Cyn, that's rather spooky looking. Especially when you take into consideration how early your little Del pullet laid her first two eggs. I'm sorry, I have no creative suggestions or answers for you. Wish I did, but I'm completely stumped. I'd definitely be keeping my eyes open to see if these droppings persist. It may be just a once or twice kind of thing. If so, then I'd say it isn't anything to be worried about. But if it persists, yes, I'd definitely be trying my best to figure out who is doing it.

Hey Nuggster!!! Come on girl!! Go broody! Make some more beautiful babies for your mama!!!

I love broodies!

OK, here's a picture from YESTERDAY. The boys were having such a great time in the sunshine, taking a long awaited dust bath. It seems to have taken forever for soil and weather conditions to be just right around here. And by golly, the boys didn't waste a moment waiting around to see if it would get any better! Oh my no!! Make hay while the sun is shining could be my boys motto!
