Is this cuteness or what? I just love this group!

Hey...that is one of my Wheaties
big_smile.png
. Aren't they cuties
love.gif
. They have the best and most interesting personalities.

They are so broody though

. I just put together a pen of 8 Spring hatched pullets 6-7 months old. They have only
been laying a month or two and already 5 are broody and are full time sitting in the three nest boxes. The three
non broodies have been laying in the pen...I think they are VERY afraid to go near the crazy, hormonal, screeching girls.

I am trying to look on the bright side. Hopefully these mama wanna be's will be laying later in the year when the others
are taking a break.

I think the Wheaten Ameraucanas may even be friendlier than the Dels
hide.gif
, and are more into world domination...by trying
to hatch anything resembling an egg, including the one golf ball they have been left with and ends up under a different
pullet every day

But, of course they are!

They are just so darn cute! I can hardly wait for them to start laying! LAYING, not brooding!

I have 4 Lavender Ameraucauas, too. Can you sex them? They are 14 weeks old.

This first one (first 2 pictures) is much smaller than the other 3.

I've had no experience with other Ameraucana varieties, but have read to look for three
rows on the comb for roos. This worked for me with Olive Eggers. I can sex the Wheaties
for sure at about 4 weeks by feather color.

My 13 week old grow out roos are sprouting saddle feathers, not seeing this on any of yours.
The combs are redder as well. Maybe you have 4 pullets? I don't know if other varieties and lines
show the same characteristics at the same age

Love the expression on that Wheatie's face in the first picture! What a cutie!

Maggie gives me that look every time I fuss at her to get her fluffy butt back into the coop yard!

[she's a consummate escape artist you know!] Now, how in the heck am I supposed to get mad and stay mad at her when she's giving me a look like that?!?!?
