WOW! Kathy! you are worse than me here! I accidentally hit one on the road if that counts ?

WEll had some issues here - i am down some chickens - i am a dog lover buy not right now. A nice huge Rottie just turned my world upside down . A counple hens gone - knocked the tractor over and shredded Hermie the cross beak EE - and my valiant Rock who was free ranging charged him right as i got out there and heard the noise - grabbed him by the neck shook him and dropped him right before my eyes. I have to give credit to my 9 pound Doxie and my 13 year old Doxie tehy flew across the yard and scared the dog away! Had a collar on never seen it before . I am beside my self. Gun is loaded and on the back deck. NEVER had this issue before. So the rocks are not free ranging for while tho they are fine i ntheir run. The main pasture the fence is 5-- 1\\2 feet high plus the goats they think they will be safe.

Coons prowl here nightly, too. I have no doubt that I could catch bucket loads if I set traps. I see their prints on my car, the window ledges of the coops, the dirt road, my deck, etc. I do live in the woods in the mountains. Kathy sure has some big ones up there, though!

OMG! Knox! I'm soooo sorry! Not that sweet little crossed bill baby!

Gawds! I do despise people who don't control their dang dogs!

And it always seems to be our birds that pay the price of their irresponsibility!

I hope you nail that sucker! Its sad that the dog will have to pay the ultimate price for having a stupid owner, but you have absolutely every right to protect your birds! Hooray for your little dogs putting the run on that big brute! Give them some extra treats for their bravery and a hug from Auntie Amy!!

Timber all around, and a 3 acre pond-lake behind us. No protected area. They are just thick here. I keep the traps set at the edge of the timber and one in the pen nearest the timber. Last year I trapped only a couple. The year before that I caught only 7. Why so many this year, I don't know ..... unless it is because I didn't trap many last year and they ALL reproduced.

Knox I am so so sorry....bless your valiant rooster for sacrificing himself. There is a special place in heaven for him I am sure. Start driving the neighborhood and looking for that dog...TAKE PICTURES of the destruction and let them have it when you find the owner...shoot the danged dog when it comes back.

*notice the very white scars on my hand and just above the long one on my forearm (I did that with my own fingernails)....they are from Lancelot biting me after his fight with the fox....poor boy felt so bad afterwards....he just talked and talked to me while I was cleaning the bites up.

Now the chuckle....Cheyenne at her birthday dinner last night...SURPRISE she bound the immediate family to silence of the birthday but she did not bother with the neighbors and they told the waiter... *smirk*
