We have a humongous oak limb just hanging over the backyard picket fence, like it was just peeled down. It's too high to fix so will just have to wait for it to fall, whenever...

Will have to walk the fence line tomorrow to be sure that nothing crushed the livestock fencing.

LH, the three babies are doing so great! That splash baby is twice as big as the Dusty's two kids. They're healthy and robust and playing like crazy in the brooder. Smoky is going to have to hit the ground running with those kids!

# 15 and # 16 trapped last night.

Pictures like these are why I'm terrified to put the BR's out into the new hoop coop I just built. It's covered in 1/2" hardware cloth on three sides and both doors. The back wall is wood siding. But is is outside the fenced in part of our yard and not as close to the house as the other coop. I just know I'm going to lose sleep til I'm sure they're safe in there.

I just keep the traps set now. I think my coops are secure, but I still worry all the time. I have seen pictures of things coons can get into and out of..... scares me to death. I would be fine with feeding the dang predators if they would just promise to leave my chickens alone.

I think so, too. Tyson isn't out all the time, is he? Or did I get his name wrong?

No, Tyson is not reliable at night. He sleeps in the garage most often. I would love to have an LGD, but I really don't have the knowledge or the time to train one.
