Yes some of those mtn boys do have weird ideas about those dogs. I live next to a semicove of them. UGH!!!!!!! I put up a stock fence ,did absolutely no good. Now do not get me wrong ,my Dad was one of them and they can be wonderful people but their dogs are like their most prized . They will talk for hours about them. Yet they will keep them in not so good conditions sometime. I think lack of edu.
Cyn, I am sorry you are going through this. I have lived with it for so long that after awhile I said" I will not fear anymore." So I go about my life and they do theirs. I know if they touched me or my chicks it would be different. I do not let my hens free range because of that. I have a hugh green yard ,over an acre ,I could let them have easy if I had the money to put up a 5 or taller foot 1x2 inch mesh fence. So far the money has not been available.. Maybe next year when we are all well from these horrible surgeries and bills I can think more on it. I sometimes daydream about how pretty and happy they would be there.
Life is for me a journey of learning to keep myself under control and be tolerate to a point. Very hard for a Mccoy youngun.

Naw Beth, that's not it at all. He's only a size 8 and very nimble on his toes. He just likes to be the boss is all.

And if he can't control anything else around here, he'll satisfy himself with controlling the choocks.

Hey, I have a friend married to a coast guard chief as well

She is a redhead....pretty sure he does not wear the pants or size 13 shoes in that relationship.

My boyfriend calls me "pastey". I don't tan, I burn. Therefore I am a nice pastey white color most of the time.

My neighbors get a kick out of the "kids" hearing me pull into the driveway and coming RUNNING up the hill to beg for food. When the car door slams I hear immediate QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK of the ducks coming up teh hill....and the "girls" will be running up the hill flapping their wings and squawking for a handout. Love "the girls" running to see me. so cute!

Ya know Nella, I think it's that behavior that so completely sold me on chickens in the first place. Eggs are just a bonus. Whether you have two or two hundred, just seeing that enthusiasm in them is completely charming and heart warming. Maybe nobody else around here is all that thrilled to see me, but my chickens are always ecstatic!

Mornign/afternoon all,

I am back. In my wake are three men and one want to be a man someday, with sensitive egos, a ton of shock and much fear of a little woman from Sadieville. But it is all being handled.

I need a drink, a cheesecake and an advil. As I have none of those it is a Pepsi, a cheese danish and a ibuprofen. And my DH is sleeping through all of this because he hurt his back last night messing with the truck so he is in muscle relaxer heaven and I am furious.

I know I have forgotten something or someone today but everyone seems to be in their place.


Now Beth I know you would not take Isaac but he is hard to resist when facing him. I know you would not take Suede cause he has already agreed to come with me in exchange for certain favors like pancakes, muffins, grapes and cornbread for starters. Also, I do not want you to hold the boy and the dog down...moving targets are more fun. Let them run for it.


Cyn, I sure hope the discussion with the boys dad goes smoothly for you. I am here all day...call if you want to.

Yes they are walking lopsided but they have half their cheeks.

They are replacing all the lugs and I am making an appointment with a mechanic of my choosing to have the vehicle checked out completely....rear axle, alignment, rotors, brakes and housing etc etc. On their dime.
