Hey, Scott, Sugar came from my bunch, right? Her comb is a carbon copy of Phoebe's (who lives with someone else now). Phoebe had a bad comb, almost no hackle color, but good tail black. She was one of my smaller Del hens, but your girl is pretty chunky!

LIVID ! ! ! I am totally LIVID, to put it mildly.

So, these are the 2 Coronations I received from the PO this morning. One had a band on so tight that it was dug into the leg. The next one ..... guess what .... FEATHERED SHANKS!!!

I'm guessing that this "person" breeding the coronations has NO idea what they are doing. I think it's time for a "firm, frank, friendly" email stating that you expect a full refund for all moneys spent with him/her.

Surely she would have seen feathered shanks and a ridiculously tight band BEFORE shipping...especially since she knew what your previous hatch issues had been.

I'm not sure if there is a way to "keep" someone from selling on BYC....but perhaps a note/email to some of the moderators might be in order

BTW - gonna be taking pix of the trio I'll be sending you sometime this weekend (I hope)....have spent most of my morning chasing a stupid Coopers Hawk.....uuugggghhhh

Kathy....Coopers Hawk IS what got me last time, but this one hasn't gotten anything just yet. Working on getting him to take a dirt nap!

On your splits, are the supposed to be Coronation split to Light Sussex?

I guess you can raise them up and see what happens....I still don't think the breeder knows what the "hello" she is doing

Yes, they are suppose to be splits .... Coronation over Light Sussex. It's a good thing I like my Light Sussex girls, as I may have just purchased some more of them!

You all will get to find out, too ...... when they start laying, I am sending you all out eggs to test hatch!

Kathy I have to say that your unfortunate situation has been educational for me. Now I am to understand that a "split" is a breed cross bred to another breed to increase the lines? So the offspring of a Del Colmbian cross would be a "split".

As for your chicks, that is to bad and I would ask for your money back. If she does not give it, report her to whoever can ban her from selling junk and count it as a lesson learned.
