HI everyone! I missed you all..... WHEwwww, what a long drive! I ended up with 700 miles all together. Quite eventful few days. First, while I was gone, little Miss Black Silkie girl hatched out her eggs .... every one of them! She has 5 new babies, and DD added 2 more (that hatched a week ago in the bator). So, mama is happy with 7 new babies tucked under her.
I got 3 Barred Rock trios from Jeremy Woeppel (XW Poultry Ranch in Chambers Nebraska). He got his stock from Frank Reese of Kansas last year. This is told to be the oldest known real Heritage flock in the USA (from 1920). I am very excited to have these YELLOW LEGGED Barred Rocks! The legs are so yellow, they are almost orange .... actually, they look like the color of the line in the highway.
I go through Kansas City to home, so I took a short detour (hmmm, about 25 miles) and picked up some REAL Coronation Sussex chicks, from Lawrence Kansas (Jenn, revolutionmama). If she isn't the cutest LITTLE thing you ever did see! Tiny girl, she is. Anyway, I do have my pure Coronations now.
I am soooo happy to be home. I got home in time to tuck in all the chickens, too. Everyone roosting now. It got dark early tonight .... gonna rain again.
