Don't worry, I'm sure I'll have another broody in a week or two......Actually I need another to take over the eggs that are not due yet that got slipped under the broody with baby. I am trying to decide which hen is most likely go broody if I stick her in a brooder with a nest full of eggs. Sigh. I have another silkie hen....but she hasn't been broody since I got her.....my little partridge cochin hen was a successful broody when I first got her but is so small I don't think she could cover all the eggs I have extra. Almost all my leghorn/giant hens are molting....I might start picking off my BIG cochins one by one to see if they might go broody. 2 are molting, so they are out of the picture....but that leaves 2 barred and 2 splash cochins.

NO MORE BABIES. Although I admit when you first posted pix, I considered it.......

I have enough "surprise" babies with all these darn broodies.......

If I build that brooder tonight, I will send over measurements and plans though. I already have it planned out in my head and I think even on paper somewhere.

Oh, YES, I would love to have plans and measurements! I gotta get started on that. Should be able to begin in a couple days.

One day I will have to get around to doing my website. I bought the URL and everything.

I just did this, too. Now, I gotta build it .... which will likely PROVE how technologically challenged I am!

Okay, I just got home and my brooder building plans may be slightly derailed by the BULL loose on my road right now. Um......

Think stabbing him with my jigsaw would work? LOL. Maybe I could clamp his face? ha ha ha.

THE MAYONNAISE JAR AND COFFEE
When things in your life seem almost too much to
handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough,
remember the mayonnaise jar...and the coffee...
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had
some items in front of him.

When the class began,
wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty
mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf
balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and
poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the
golf balls. He then asked the students again if the
jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured
it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up
everything else. He asked once more if the jar was
full. The students responded with a unanimous
"yes."
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from
under the table and poured the entire contents into
the jar, effectively filling the empty space between
the sand. The students laughed.
"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
"I want you to recognize that this jar represents your
life. The golf balls are the
important things-your God, family, your children, your
health, your friends, and your favorite
passions-things that if everything else was lost and
only they remained, your life would still be full. The
pebbles are the other things that matter like your
job, your house, and your car. The sand is everything
else-the small stuff.

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he
continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the
golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all
your time and energy on the small stuff, you will
never have room for the things that are important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your
happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get
medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner.
Play another 18. There will always be time to clean
the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf
balls first, the things that really matter. Set your
priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what
the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm
glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no
matter how full your life may seem, there's always
room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

I would LOVE to have a couple cups of coffee with you all, dear friends!​

Couldn't have come at a better time!

My evil broody, Turkey (on the right) and her sis Heathen (on the left) are sharing brooding duties

Between them, they're sitting on 7 eggs

two of which, are white, so the leghorn layed twice today

though I think, if I got the count right, there were 10 eggs? Maybe 11? and I only have ONE girl, my Dellie, Lil Lady, at approx 17ish weeks and the others closest are about 14ish weeks....

I did get a very pretty pinkish egg, that I haven't gotten before. I even checked all the eggs in the fridge to make sure, and its a first! Wonder if it was Lady

Oh, and guess who was out on patrol for the first time?

(scuse the mess!)

And the Roo was on patrol too

Though he's given up courting Lady, as she pretty well outruns him everytime
