We still have power!
Woke up to the better part of a foot of new snow. Don't worry Kathy. I can handle this stuff. It's a nice, light and fluffy kind of snow. Perfect for shoveling. I'm all bundled up and just about ready to go dig out the chickens, but thought I'd stop by here first and give y'all an update. Current temps are holding steady at 9F with a wind chill that brings it down to minus 9F. That part I could do without, thank you very much! But, that's what gloves, scarves and hats are for, right?
I think the boys are going to be spending the next few days in the pump house with me. This is just too dang cold for their combs and considering how pretty I think those are, I surely don't want to see them altered one bit through frost bite.
Of course, wouldn't ya know it, I forgot to pick up some Vaseline in my last grocery outing.
And now we're effectively snowed in for at least today, until the snow plows can get out our way. We're at the end of the line, so it will be awhile. But we've plenty of food, for both humans, chickens, dog and cat. And TONS of seasoned dry firewood!
Once I have them all taken care of, I plan on brewing up a big old cup of tea, laced with some apricot brandy, and then sit on my toosh for the rest of the day. It will take me that long to thaw out!
Y'all have a great day and don't forget the meeting tonight. Beth has the details. Now, go hug your chickens! That's what I'm gonna do!
