Nella, Congratulations on those new chicks! See now, that is one good broody!

LadyHawk, I am so glad you got your horsie! Sounds like you are gonna be havin' lots of fun!

Scott, Love the pictures.... Looks like everyone was having a great time. Jennifer looks great in camo!

Your prices look similar to mine. The prices are getting ridiculous! I have been paying $7. for a bale of pine bedding for quite some time. It is just crazzzyyyyyy! I haven't even checked the receipt the last few times, when I had DD pick it up. There has got to be a cheaper way......

YOU two have it easy! In Atlanta no one knows what chicken supplies SHOULD cost, I pay $37.00 for 50#, and $25.00 for a freakin feeder.

Is there a Tractor Supply location anywhere near you? If so, try there. Tractor Supply up here has a great feed selection, plenty of accessories, medications, etc, etc

Fortunately for me, I have a local feed/seed store about 3 miles from the house that carries EVERYTHING.

Sick AGAIN today, it's been a week now! And I have to miss another play rehearsal, and we're doing stumble-throughs. Arg! On the bright side I can be on BYC

A little outside of town, about 40 minutes away. Guess I should go there and buy a BUNCH of feed so I don't always have to drive so far. Thanks!

Colby and his granddaddy (Jennifers dad) walking to the stand

Scott, this is my most favorite picture out of all of them! There is no more heart warming picture in the world than that of a grandfather and his grandson or granddaughter, heading off into the woods to share in a day of hunting. It's just icing on the cake that Colby got such a nice buck. The real treasure is that time spent with you and his granddaddy!

I'm pea green with envy on that score! I never had that pleasure with my dad or papa, as neither of them were hunters. Fishing, yes, hunting, no. I didn't pick up hunting until I met my DH. I so hope Landon and Colby know just how lucky they are in having two generations of menfolk willing and able to take them out to the woods! When they are much older, with families of their own, my prayer for them is that they have the time and the desire to share our great outdoor heritage with their own children. And who knows, maybe they'll let Dad tag along too!!

Those are some really great pictures Scott. Thank you for sharing them with us. I really did enjoy each and every one. Tell Colby that next year, he's on his own! I think he's pretty much ready!

Just kidding. They're never old enough to be on their own, are they?

And tell Landon he should come up here and join us for some western hunting. What we lack in quantity, we can certainly make up for usually with quality of hunts. No sitting in tree stands here though. Wide open terrain that requires a ton of hiking, up narrow draws and down broad valleys, over modest hills and around larger mountains, and a few sheer cliffs thrown in for interest!

Just what a pair of young legs can handle!

CETAWIN!!! I am sooooo happy for you sweetie!

Your horsey is finally here!!

I love that little foal in the next pasture by the way. Is that a colt or filly? Darling face on that little fuzzy butt.

I bet you can hardly wait until you have her all of the way home to your barn, where you can walk out there any time you want and get some fuzzy faced snuggles! How are you coming on acquiring that horse you wanted for a pasture buddy for Jo? Any news there? Are you still pursuing that course, or has that fallen through? Inquiring minds would like to know!

Well, the snow has resumed its assault on us once again. This storm is expected to be with us until tomorrow morning some time and may bring as much as 6-9 inches of snow. Which means we'll probably get a foot on top of the 20.9 inches already here. They're saying we only need to pick up another 4 inches and we'll break the record for most snowfall for the month of November!

Yup! This is shaping up to be every bit as bad of a winter as that of either the 2007-2008 or 2008-2009 winters! If you want to know what those winters looked like, there are some good pictures of it on my page. Thank the good lord for a very stout roof over our heads this year!

OK, enough of this chitchat! Time to go take care of my chicken babies!! See y'all at the meeting tonight!

Have a great day everyone, and try to stay dry and warm!

ETA: Nella! What in heaven's name are you gonna do with all of them chickies? I thought you were trying to down size your flock?!?

Yes, see....I am TRYING to downsize. But the broodies are trying to UPSIZE. I used to always try to break broodies. Now, I have given up! They never actually break and I get tired of fighting with them.

The babies are soooo cute. and since they are mostly roosters, they will go away anyways. RIGHT? Right.

I defintiely did not just agree to buy 4 young pullets locally. Nope.
