LOL, yes she is definitely saying "excuuuuuuuuuse me, it still has feathers! I can't work like this!"

Speaking of feathers......all broody/baby combos seem to be doing well. The broodyless batch is growing and looking great. Does seem to be 3 girls, 3 definite boys and 1 iffy. Iffy looks a little too beetle sheen black to be a girl, but we'll see....Silkie babies are doing good and getting big....RIR/Cochin babies are doing good and getting big. She is still protective over them, but I am considering booting her out to the yard and combining them and the broodyless batch together. Then they will all get to share the big brooder and that will be some good integration out of the way early on. I probably should go ahead and do the same with the silkie babies....but the mommas are so cute with their kids. Hmmmmmm........

My one brooder with the teenagers and the loofah cochin has lice/mites though. Ergh.....I dusted them a few days ago and probably need to dust them again.....Sigh. Just on their neck/beard area. Weird. Stupid bugs.

Working on trying to adopt a senior dog for christmas. Because, er....my current 4 dogs aren't enough LOL. There is a senior shepherd mix down near Atlanta in a rescue who had been severely neglected, probably for years. She looks just like my "old dog" and I think would fit in well here. We'll see! Might be cruising down to Atlanta in the near future......

Tim she is precious and that picture is priceless!

I apologize for my lacking appearance but I have been battling a very nasty bug that has my sinuses feeling like my head is going to explode....if I am most fortunate! Ack!

Glad everyone's birds are well and everyone on the SDWD is good....I will check back in later....

all is fine here in Northern Kentucky just cooooooolllllllllldddddddddddd!

Nella Bean!

Goodfor you! I have worked with rescue dogs - adoptions - shelters etc over the years and have a soft spot for the older dogs that show up there. I adopted my one girl at age ten and she is one of the best dogs i have had. When a dog is over 4 they get overlooked at the shelters - and God forbid they are black - yuo put an 8 year old black dog in a shelter - poor thing - kiss of death! Go get that doggy!
Imagine if at a certain age no one wanted us? Yikes -

Not by me, I got chicks in the brooder and eggs in the bator. Stocking stuffers, gotta get enough for the whole world for Christmas. If Haiti had my Dels they wouldn't go hungry. Took three egg from the coop this morning don't know when they were laid but they aint' doing bad.

Have a nice day

Shoot, I am getting a good dozen eggs a day lately. I guess the chickens don't mind me cutting the layer pellets with scratch, as long as I keep throwing the scrambled eggs. I even got an egg from my mottled cochin pen this morning! No idea whose egg it is.......could even be Ms Buff Columbian exbroody......That is the cutest little pen of birds......If I decide to vacate the other broodies, I will toss her back out to the main flock that day too.

I am getting some really nice light brown and tinted eggs, so I am guessing a lot of my molters are coming out. My wheaten marans girl has been giving better eggs every day. They are dark and speckled and beautiful. I really need to use her to make some olive eggers.

Inkheart, this dog is about 12 years old, medium large shepherd mix, black with some brown markings and a nice gray face. She is half bald from a skin infection that was left untreated but likes dogs AND cats. She looks JUST like my old dog that I had from when I was 9 years old to 24 years old. The resemblance is uncanny. Since I already have two super senior dogs, she would fit right in. My 2 young dogs keep the place hopping and the 2 old ones are good company.

Here are my old goobers last night. It's hard work being old.

She has a sweet face and I bet would be so happy to have a nice warm dog bed to sleep on for her last year or two.

Oh Nella! You just gotta go get her!! I hope she's compatible with chickens!

She absolutely deserves a good home with you and your menagerie. I'd love to see her curled up on a nice soft and warm bed in your home and discovering [perhaps for the first time] that not all humans are monsters!

Please keep us posted on her status. Does she have a name? Did you already say and I missed it? OH! Go Nella! Just GO! This weekend! Go get her!!!!

I admire you that rescue animals. I am just not a rescue type person. One dog, one cat (that I never wanted) .... that's it for me. Ohhh, don't get me wrong.... I do love them. I never cared for cats, but ours is a keeper. She is Brittney's cat and she is a big fat ball of hair, sweetie. I don't think I could do 5 dogs though.....

I would drive them crazy!
