Mine were born April 1st and I didn't get my first egg until late Sept. So I guess I was pretty lucky, but my White Rock also waited till this month.

Just out of curiosity Nick, what all do you feed your girls on a regular, daily basis? Do you let them out to free range during the day at all? What kind of treats do you give them? Are they getting plenty of both calcium and protein? Sometimes the reason for a delayed start in laying can be traced directly back to one dietary deficiency or another.

My dad and brother in law are at my house letting the dogs out since I have plans after work. My brother in law just texted me this

Along with the note "BAD CHICKEN!"

She is up on the railing of my back deck.....which leads to the "outer world".

I love those White Leghorn/Giant mixes! I think I am going to try crossing them with my Blue Wheaten Amer to make a super duper very light green egger.

Well I am glad SOMEONE is getting eggs. Monday there were NO Del eggs. None. Nada. Zip. Two Orp eggs out of four girls and faithful Harriet.

I'm getting about half to 1 full dozen a day. I have a lot of girls coming out of a molt or right at point of lay. My ever faithful white leghorn/giant girls all went into a molt but are just coming out of it now and back to being excellent layers. I don't keep heat lamps OR lights on my girls, so I just take what I get. I still have about 50 dozen more eggs than I could ever use!
