Back when I used puffy paint to mark the eggs, I would get almost 50% two headed! Its an improvement

Yeah, but that's when you were getting the 3 legged chicks wasn't it? That's when you switched your methods?

3 legged hermaphrodites........Ever tried figuring out how many chicks you have by simply counting heads? or legs sticking out under mama? Yeah. NOT SO MUCH. When I count from the top i get 20, when I count from the bottom I get 15 and when I actually count them individually I get 10. Who knew?

Well, your experimentation, documentation, and endless hours of research and work has been note worthy and is now nationally known. Soooo many people will benefit from your work now.

Where's the dough, yo? It's hard work being me. Sigh.

Did i mention I have NO BROODIES right now? Or rather, the barred cochin still has her chicks that are like 3-4 weeks old now......but NOBODY is sitting on eggs. Praise the chicken gods.....

Cochins are seriously cute. There is a reason why I had SO MANY of them.

So I had not mentioned my little dwarf bantam aka loofah cochin to the buyers....I had talked about the other 2 bantam girls in the same brooder but not mentioned the dwarf one. When they arrived I showed them the other girls and told them if they wanted to take the little dwarf one also, I would let her go for free with the others. I ended up handing her to one of the kids and they passed her around between them the rest of the time. That chicken's feet may never touch the ground ever again. GREAT place for her. She is perfect sized for the young kids to carry around....and I bet she'll love it.

Kathy, quit talking blasphemy over there. My broodies are done for winter! Done, I tell you!

I have heard of being snowed in but snowed out!!!!!! I had a week of a wonderful pet sitter to take care of my hens. LOL

Old man winter came along and she could not get out and told me not to come. Yikes. I had an extra week to stay on the coast with family. Good and not so good.
Today I cleanned and cleaned the coop.

Two weeks of mess. The dust was incredible. At least a quarter inch of the stuff. Sometimes I wonder where it comes from. I have a floor with linoleum and shavings on it. Then three no four poop boards to clean etc. Now I can walk in and it smells cleanner. Tomorrow i will put out a little hay on the floor too. That keeps it warmer and softer to walk on. My spoiled ladies got oatmeal a bag of spinach and some apple today, plus their crumbles and scratch. I got some loving

Fog was hugh after two weeks hes my young coming roo. Splash orpington, from Suedes line. He is so friendly. I will soon be putting him in the pen next to his ladies to finish growing out. Come Spring , I am sure he will be ready to tango.

It sure is good to be home.
Sorry for the sick and lost over the holidays. I have had them in years past and they sure are not good.
Hope Chief is better too. Love to all Gloria Jean
