I have three sets of eggs in the Hova right now, on Day 16, Day 7 and Day 2 tomorrow. I'm sure I can pilfer a couple or three to give Miss Shadow from one of the last two batches. I don't think she can cover more than three of these big eggs. The last group has two of Ellie's eggs in there so maybe I can give those to her, along with June's egg I added last. LH wanted another one like Hedwig she lost recently and today is June's first egg in months.

So, we're taking bets...who says Shadow is the first broody of 2011 here at the Chicken Asylum?

Is there something in the water you're giving these girls that causes them to go broody all the time, or what? Is this Shadow's first time Cyn? Dear heavens! I'm picturing Shadow trying to cover big girl eggs and I'm having a devil of a time imagining it!

Thank you Beth.

Yes, I will always miss that sweet little soul, but I do console myself with the fact that I still have her mother and her sister. As closely as those three always roosted and hung out together, it's nothing short of a miracle that Cosette at the very least didn't contract the disease. Hopefully this means that she has a natural immunity or at least a strong resistance to the virus.

Oh how I wish they could find a cure to this wretched disease! Having a vaccine is a great thing, but I'd still like to have a viable treatment for Marek's, especially as so many of us hatch our own eggs and sometimes it just isn't all that practical to vaccinate. Impractical or not, it's something I firmly intend to implement to all future chicks hatched here. I never, EVER want to watch one of my babies succumb to that again!

Just got back from play practice. EVERYTHING IS DONE! Yes! I am thrilled. Now there's just run-throughs and tech week. Painting, building the set, pizza, all that fun stuff. Eeek!

She is The Princess and she is on her own little Princess roost every night without fail, so I'm betting she is gearing up to have babies again. I will give her two Dellies and one Del x EE if she is still on the nest tomorrow.
