Yes, Gloria Jean, they will be Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas--guess a splash wheaten or a plain wheaten could also be in the mix, but all pure Ameraucanas. I'm going to ask Kathy (halo) to send more Ameraucanas than BBS Rocks in the batch just because I know several folks who would love one of them.

A 4th Del is pipped. No zipping yet, but I'm sure the first couple to pip will get going soon. They have such super personalities, these Dels. I'm glad Janet talked me into hatching them, and she really did have to twist my arm. The breed is redeemed in my eyes. Except for one thing: they miss nothing, absolutely nothing! Tonight, when we were getting them inside, Isaac hung back from the door. He was telling us he wanted to go to his batchelor pad and eat that good scratch we feed him and Zane. Last night, he wanted to stay with his girls, but guess he'd had enough of them today, LOL. He followed Tom over to the other coop and walked right inside the broody pen. He's so smart, that boy.

Hey everyone, it's hard to keep up with y'all- last night I saw a three hour performance of Les Mis- wonderful! This weekend I am trying to set up my page, please remind me! I say that every weekend. I also need to set up my sandbox, cause that straw does not work to keep the coop dry! I feel your pain, Kathy! The girls are in desperate need of a dustbath.

Cyn, glad your hatch is doing well and Suede is doing his job, hopefully it will keep working.

You're using that fridge bator, right?

The weather here has been great, too. The high tomorrow is 60. Maybe that means Zucchini will lay... she went on strike for a while, laid three eggs (which one of didn't crack right) and hasn't laid in days again. Lily also laid a huge egg, triple yolker quality that, as usual, contained one giant yolk. Guess my girls just aren't into the whole "multiple yolk" thing yet. Haha.

Edited a funny pic but can't seem to upload it now. Will try later...

Hmmm...this is strange. I know Cetawin said something about a YouTube video of DeeDee that she shot just for me, but I'll be darned if I see it anywhere! Oh LaaaaddyyyHaaaaaawk!! Did you get waylaid somewhere along the line? Inquiring minds want to know!

Knox, we were cool way before Julia Roberts!

I just wanna know, if she's so great and wonderful and bright and all of that happy crap...how come it took her so long to find out about chickens?!?!?
hu.gif
To me, 30 seconds after getting my first dozen chicks, it was a no brainer! These are by far the coolest pets I've ever had! And I've had some great pets!

Paid a visit to my local feed store today. I swear!

Every time I go in there, the price of crumble goes UP! What the H-E-Double Toothpicks is up with that? No kidding! Every single time! It just keeps going up and up and up and up!!

I bought a bag of rolled oats to see how the gang would like them. Pffft! I shouldn't have fretted so. I keep forgetting, these hooligans never met a food they didn't love!

Gloria, I still have a few of the girls who are still sneezing and shaking their heads, but overall, they're all doing much better. I think it might take a little while longer to rid them of whatever it is that is causing this. I did pick up a new bale of shavings today. Next week the weather is going to be bitterly cold, but sunny, so I'll be cleaning the coop out at that time. Though I don't really think it has anything to do with the shavings in there right now. I put the same shavings in the boys coop and none of them have whatever this is.

If they aren't completely cleared up by next Wednesday, I'm going to start them in on the Tylan 50 injections. That's gonna be a real fun time. NOT! 10 nightly doses of .5 cc each, administered to 19 birds?
th.gif
Prayers are most welcome folks! I really, REALLY hope it doesn't come to that.

It's not that I have anything against giving my chickens a shot. Good grief! If I could cut Evie's foot open to work on that bumble, I can surely handle a small injection in each of them. No, the problem I have is in using antibiotics at all! I'd so rather see my birds fight off this crud through their own natural immune system than to possibly use the wrong antibiotic. And what if it's the right antibiotic, but not enough of it? Could I be creating a drug resistant strain of virus through improper use of antibiotics? Yeah, it's one of those things that keeps me up at night!

Darn the luck! I didn't get one spare moment to go out and take pictures of the two coops like I said I was gonna.

I made the mistake of trying to take a load of clean wash into Annie's room this morning. I spent the next three hours in there cleaning up her pigsty before I had to shoot out to the base and run all of my other errands. Next week is supposed to be cold but sunny. I'll get pictures then folks.

GeeGee is still holding tight to those eggs!
love.gif
However, as I was late in getting out to them this morning, and thereby late in getting GeeGee's breakfast to her, she had gotten off of her nest just as soon as I opened the door. Sheesh! I was only about an hour late!
ep.gif
Then I discovered why she was off of the nest. I guess she had some kind of an agreement with Ivy to cover the eggs for her while she went about a much needed break from brooding.
lol.png
To the best of my knowledge, she hadn't been off of them in at least three days!

She's going to be a great little mama!

Now if I can just squeeze in getting that brooder built and set up in the pump house for her before her eggs hatch!

Kathy? Where did you order your Marek's vaccine from? How long did it take to receive it from time of order to receipt? How much was it? I found out today that Del's doesn't carry Marek's vaccine. Gee! Why am I NOT surprised?!
