Nella here. Getting ready to hop in the shower so I can go buy chicken food. I have none. LOL. Chickens are eating scratch today.

Remember Miss Lucy my new kitty? she is so cute. Norman is too.

Nella it's good to hear from you! They are soooooooo cute!

Delawares! The oldest two are about 13 days old now. The last one had a very open navel and it's not doing well. It can walk, but all it wants to do is sleep and snuggle under the others. It rarely opens its eyes so we may end up with a failure-to-thrive chick. Coincidentally, this one is Georgie's. The one with the bad hock was getting worse so we euthanized the poor thing yesterday. No more Georgie babies will be hatched since it appears she has some sort of deficiency that causes issues with some of her chicks. The one on my arm is also Georgie's, but he is a strong kid (I think it's a cockerel for several reasons, but could be wrong-it's just a sense I get from him)

Cyn, last picture, bottom right: OMG! Turn off the camera! Turn OFF the camera!! That one is trying to reach right through the lens and instigate his/her Dellie mind control!!

They're absolutely darling Cyn.

Do you think that you might be able to bring Georgie's nutritional deficiencies under control so that you can continue to hatch her eggs? Hope so. The world needs every Del it can get!

Well, there are probably shots for something like that, but at some point you have to draw the line. As she's getting the same nutrition as the rest, obviously the problem is isolated to just her. That says to me that it could be a genetic flaw within Georgie that she can't seem to adequately process her feed to the point of producing good chicks.

It's a shame. She's such a pretty girl!

No problems with Ellie's babes? At least you have her for breeding!

Laura, you're more than welcome! I'm just tickled that for once, one of those so called "useless" bits of information I have, actually helped someone! An $8.00 part? I just gotta ask. Which one?
lol.png
I think the last $8.00 part we got for Francis was a headlight bracket!! And then couldn't use because it attaches to the rear fenders, and the fenders aren't ever on the tractor while the front end loader is on there! And the front end loader is always on the little beastie!

Oh well...I can always walk in front of Denny with the Coleman lantern if need be!
