We got an incredibly good piece of news yesterday, and real quick, I wanted to share it with y'all. Our Annie has received the "Governor's Scholarship Award"!!!!! wee This is a four year, full ride scholarship that is awarded to only the very best of kids in foster care guardianships, which Annie is, on account of her parents being mentally challenged. Our sweet little Annie, who has kept her nose to the grindstone since she was in elementary school, and who has maintained a 3.9 GPA throughout middle school and high school, is one of only 50 students who will be receiving this scholarship. There were over 470 applicants for the scholarships this year! th I'm

Nick, even when the original 2.22 acres wasn't fenced off, they couldn't go down there. It's a hike down the mountain from me. They rarely even venture as far as the perimeter fence.

Oh, ETA: LH, Smoky's egg is finishing up Day 11 and it has a bouncing baby chick in there! That hen is just odd. I picked her up today and she screeched loudly, then as I carried her into the coop, she screeched again, then again when I put her down. Such a drama queen!

Cyn, good luck with selling your property. Now, if it came with a good paying job I would be there in an instant!!

Okay, I have my pics/videos.

We were planning to build the giant new coop out of our leftover wood, LOL! This is just enough for the poop boards.

The chicks- I love their "worm wars". I kept having to rescue Luna (kind of a runt/slow grower from the hatch) to the picnic table for her to eat her's.

Here is Biscuit. Luna thinks that he is a nice, squishy roost.

Thanks Knox!

Cyn, she is adorable!!

I have picked the two girls that will be staying with me, Jess and Cassidy. From what I can tell, they would not be in the cull pile. I am so happy with them! They have the roomy dog crate brooder now, and I moved the rest out to a recycled brooder. I call this a "cabinet brooder"!

Here it is. Ugly, but easy to use. It has two levels- the upstairs (a shelf) which has water and a nice place to sleep, and the downstairs that has food and a little pen. I hope to sell these all this weekend. Jay is leaving to go to SC tomorrow, and I am hoping to give the rest to a BYC member here in GA. After my thread where I need to know the gender of one chick gets responded to, the auction will be put up.

Here is the cabinet-style brooder.
