Spike was such a sweet little guy. I'm so sorry you lost him. I know how well loved he was by both you and Cheyenne. May the sorrow at his passing be completely surpassed by your joy of bringing ZoomZoom into your flock! I must say, that one looks like quite the character! You did manage to get a few of Spike's offspring in your last hatch didn't you?

Hey! Good job on those paint finds! I'm not fond of purple in any shade, but together with that green, it actually works. Might I suggest that you use whichever is your least favorite color on the floor? Covered with shavings, how often are you actually going to see it? Save the color you really like for the walls, and then use that little pint can for trim since there probably won't be all that much of that on the interior, right? Great bargain you found there! If nothing else, it will work as a great primer coat for the interior. You can always paint it the colors you'd rather have at a later date when it goes on sale!

LOL Serrin no she was trying to get away from it...she tried sneaking around and under the swing, then walking away, then trotting and then hiding from it under the porch. hahahaha Serrin no Spike babies, I only had 2 porcelain eggs develop and one quit about Day 12 or so and the other never pipped.


Nella....speaking of the Nella Transport Service....I hear you are coming my way this month and possibly bringing a project d'uccle delivery. Any idea when the delivery will occur?

And yes ZoomZoom came from wyldehorses.

Good Friday. April 22nd, I think. Planning on leaving here around noonish. That puts me up there around......4ish? Something around that.

I know, Amy, I do push to get things done.

I have chicks due to hatch on April 6 and if most hatch that are still viable now, my brooder in the house won't be able to handle them for more than a week or two at the most. I need to paint so it can air out and fumes dissipate. Tomorrow, after grocery shopping, maybe we can do the hardware cloth screen to go over the smaller window and/or the door between the coop and storage areas.

I realized that I'm really dumb. Trying to integrate two flocks on a Thursday afternoon... Not my best idea! The older girls hardly ever pecked the Dels, but they were freaking out in a corner.

Might just have to wait until the new coop is done. Hopefully that'll be by the end of this month.

Dang Brandon....I am so sorry. That is sad...I hate it that I did not get one of Spike's babies the last two hatches either. But, for all I know he is up there with Thor waiting for me. I miss my boys

Hey y'all! Look what Laura [hillbillyhen] made for my sweet boy, Chief.

I'm in the process of trying to get him accustomed to having it on. His first session was last night after the sun went down. It went...ummm...so-so. I would have put it back on him today, but the weather was just so dang windy, and I was having a hard enough time keeping the chooks on the ground, that I decided it would be better to try this on a calmer day.

I think if Chief is more preoccupied with daytime life, he won't have time to think about the "Dickie" being on his chest.

If this works out Laura, I think I'm going to contract out to you for a dozen more. I think he looks quite dashing, don't you?

The girls were certainly curious about it last night. Rotten women! This is all their fault with their constant plucking of my baby boy!! They'll get theirs though....Laura, bless her heart, also sent five saddles for my girls who are going through the worst molt! Let's see how they like having to wear clothes! Thanks again Laura! I owe you a big one!!
