It is always that way Nick...the ones you are selling or rehoming always seem to get close to you and your heart before they go.

HA Amy yo are taking over spot as Rooster Magnet. hehehehe I am sorry, it seems to always be that way when we get so attached.

Well bad news here...I lost my porcelain roo Spike this morning. He did not crow at all yesterday so I kept a close eye on him until I went to bed at 4 am....he was gone at 9am. His face was very pale and comb very dark purplish. I checked him well for parasites and there were none and he was not acting sick but last night he looked "tired" so I believe it was circulatory in nature. And has he has not been agreesively breeding or dancing for the girls, I think even moreso it was his heart. RIP Spike my sweetie.

This weekend I am picking up a Mille Roo, ZoomZoom, from thechickonthehill....he is a sweetie too. After quarantine he will go in with my porcelain girls and give me milles split to lavender to I can get porcelains from them. Here is ZoomZoom who just turned one year old.

I so hated to hear about Spike! I named that boy, for goodness sake, heard him crow so many times, etc. He will be missed, LH. I promise you'll love Beau's crow--it's just really good. And Lizzie will keep you laughing, trust me. JoBeth is quiet and so pretty and feminine, they make a cute trio.

You'll love this Oops! paint from Home Depot. Two gallons of Glidden oil/Alkyd semi gloss made for bathrooms, kitchens and cabinets and a pint of Behr paint and primer in one that usually sells for about $17. These will go on the foor, the walls, and in the nestboxes. What do you think? Cheerful enough? Beats paying over $25/gallon. Each gallon was just $5 and the small one was $1.

Shoot yes I love the purple and green one. They will make a cheery coop.

Padma got her new saddle that sweettxlilac made for her with wing protectors to cover the entire wing width. she tried to run away from it and finally gave up because it kept staying with her. LOL

Have big grocery trip tomorrow, have to do some FedExing to the State Dept for my son who is overseas and wants to change locations to Korea, am pushing to finish the coop, and I stepped on a huge rock while manhandling a sheet of OSB and torqued my bad ankle and fell so I'm a bit sore and exhausted. Plus, I have chicks going into Day 17 tonight and am excited and having to get the brooder cleaned and ready. Ack, so much to do! It was bonechilling cold this afternoon while we were working on the coop. Running to get my coffee, brb...

LH, I am so sorry!

I heard many great stories about him. That is so horrible. I enjoyed the other pictures, though!

Cyn, so glad you're gettin' to work, and shoot... Stinks about your ankle! Sorry! Hope it heels well. I can't wait to see all of your hatchlings.

Well, I sent this email to my builder today, ugh, I want to get started on my coop already!! Here's a snippet of the plans.

A 10' x 10' or 10' x 12' simple coop, with a few windows covered in plexiglass and hardware cloth, and a hole going along the top only covered in hardware cloth. Three small, closable chicken doors. Tin roof. I would like the coop to be slanted, so maybe it could start 8 feet tall and the back part could go down to seven feet tall. I'll order nest boxes, and just nail them to the wall, so you won't have to do that. Oh, and I'd like the coop to be slightly off the ground on top of pavers. Inside roosts would just be simple. The human door on the right side. I would like you to set up a run, but that doesn't have to be done- I could just bury fence posts and welded wire, with hardware cloth along the bottom two feet myself. I'm not sure about paint quite yet. If possible, I would like to build it with you this month or May.

I also got the Delawares moved in with the big girls! Doing very well!

Now, is Zoom Zoom the mille I brought from Lori to thechickonthehill? Or is ZoomZoom the one she got to keep him company?

Nevermind, I hunted down her post about it......Zoom Zoom is the friend she bought to go with Stuart Little, which is the one she got from Lori (via the NellaBean Lexington transport lol).

Super pretty bird!
