Sorry about the weather, everyone. It's a tad cool here this morning. The storm didn't do much damage, but knocked over a lot of backyard accessories of ours. The Delawares are out... They are so cute... Jay found a red folgers cup that I use to scoop feed, and he managed to stick his head in it and walk around with it on his head! I will post pictures later, HOPEFULLY. I can't upload these dang things, and my camera is dying!

Woops... Patience... I'm not a fan. LOL.

Enjoying this? ENJOYING THIS?!?!?!? Oh no dear Stanly! I am, emphatically NOT enjoying THIS! Look at all you can do with the weather you are experiencing. You can garden! Your chickens can free range without returning to the coop as near corpse sickles! You can walk around outside in SHORT SLEEVE SHIRTS!!

Spring has not shown its face here, and we don't expect to see it until sometime in mid May. Until that time, we keep bundled up, look forlornly at the garden that cannot be planted, let alone tilled yet, and throw another log into the wood stove. So pardon me if I'm not feeling all that charitable towards folks that have to run the air conditioning right now! I'd give my eyeteeth to walk around freely outside without the extra burden of six layers of fleece! TYVM!

LH, you look stunning! Great haircut! Fashionista!

Cyn, awwww babies. So cute. What's the basket in the brooder for? You want them to lay ALREADY? tsk tsk tsk LOL

Spring cleaning is done! I disinfected and hosed down all coops, set up 3 of the 4 brooders, bought 4 bags of feed, bought heat lamps, bought new feeders and waterers, bought fencing, knocked down all webs, changed all bedding, dusted, cleaned the exteriors, dried with towels, raked the runs, scrubbed all feeders/waterers/storage bins/calcium feeders, set up a new run for the Delawares, cut hardware cloth, yadda yadda yadda. I'm SO glad to have this done! It was fun out working with a friend, though. Pictures:

We are also working on some gardening... Just have to plant the produce garden now. I had another photo of the actual garden, but seem to have lost it... haha...

Who remembers this brooder? The new one will be the same size, but longer, and a LOT taller! And, probably nicer.
