Happy Easter to you too Brandon and all my friends here on SDWD!

Had a rough night as a rogue tom cat has decided to stay a while here thus causing my fixed barn boys to fight with him all night! Finally got my boys locked in the bard about 3 am - only to have the dogs still bark and howl all night as the rogue sat on the side deck off my bedroom howling for whatever reason. PETA would be mad but there was a moment where the shotgun almost came from under my bed and the rogue almost met an unhappy ending,

He is very interested in a bad way about my prized Rock banties - they are secure but this lil jerk will meet his maker if he touches them - sorry if that offends anyone ,,,, but i am a fiercely protective Dad lol And with new hen i got - within 15 minutes she was eating out of my hand -

Happy Easter everyone! I just got back from church.

Knox... If that cat touches those rocks... I would be so sad! You just adore them. Shoot the cat now!

Speaking of cats, last night I heard one screaming. I run to the back door, nothing. I go to the front, and there's my cat dashing in, and a coyote just standing in the front lawn. He didn't even move until I threw a fork at him (yes, I know, a fork, LOL). Stupid. Glad it's not near the chickens, across town...

Cyn we are living the SAME cat life today - tho mine is black and white. I trapped him and he think he might go ro a ride . I feel bad but he is really causing ALOT of trouble here and tho my cats are up to date on their shots - i just dont want the fighting - my guys are mellow and this cat is FAR Too interested in the chickens

Well, in case I get SOME chicks to hatch, I set up the brooder again. This is only half of it, it will be double this size. The other half will be added tomorrow. I am lending some feeders and waterers to someone, and should get them back tomorrow as well. Also, I looked up the date I'm hatching, it was the day that Joan of Arc arrived to relieve the Siege of Orléans. So, I am calling this the "Siege of Orléans Hatch"! Or, what might be a hatch.

By the way, I won't be on here much this week until Saturday. So busy.

Looking in from the chickens' door, floor level.

Their small pop door

I couldn't figure out how to put the heat lamps in, since the brooder is 4 feet tall. So I carved equal holes in each side, slipped a piece of wood through that I hooked the lamp to. I made holes at many levels, so that will make raising the heat lamp easy, and the chicks can't get out through the holes since they're too high. Wipee!

The whole thing...

J/K, it's probably just a bit of a runt. I was going to remove the leg bands on the birds from William and just put larger ones on the two from you, but this little one's first leg band is still loose at almost 3 weeks old. Check it out!

Nick, sounds like a good solution.

ummm problem with baby...I think spraddle leg but ..................... what do you think?
