I'm sorry! Hope that this ends soon! The Delawares would not go up, so I chased them around their coop several times until they learned how to use the door.

All of the smart birds went into the coop an hour or so early. Except for one dumb rooster. So I left him out and locked the coop. Natural selection. I had tried to herd him in but he did his very best to stay out. Dumb bird.

All of my bantam cochins were in the coop when I got home, with the rooster posted at the door. They are smart little fluffballs. Always the first in the coop at night and first sign of bad weather, they just go to bed.

Forever isn't very long for an old woman, Nick. Yes, this is our retirement home. We moved here 4 years ago, from Iowa. We lived in our home there for over 25 years. Our oldest son and his family live there now.

The chicken compound is quite aways away from the house. This is my home here in Missouri. Nothing fancy, but we love it here.
Right now it is a muddy mess. Everything needs mowed, but it is too muddy to do that.....

Wow. Stunning! I really love the sloped homes that look one story from the front, and then have a nice basement! How much land is that? 5 or so acres? My chicken area is also in the very very very back of my yard. Yet, the chooks dig the backdoor.

I am going to PM you some that I took today, as I don't want to post them on public web.

Tornadoes, lightning, but no rain so far. This is going to be a looooong night.

Did you see mississippifarmboy's horror? He lost a brooder full of chicks when it was blown upside down in a tornado. I'm so SICK of this wild weather we're having! First a super snowy winter, then horrible thunderstorms, tornadoes and power outages. Can we have a boring, cooler than normal summer now, please? Pwetty pwease????

Hi, everyone.

Popping in to remind everyone about the recognition awards.

We want to validate the efforts and contributions of our members who give sooo much. This community is special because of the efforts of its members, and we all want to honor that.

NOW: get to nominating, if you haven't already!

Remember, each BYC member may nominate one member each month for each of the three recognition categories: BYC Friend, BYC Educator, and BYC Spirit. That's three nominations each month, and we want to see more submissions!

Use the Nomination Submission Form to make your suggestions.

Thanks!

Wow Cyn, I hope the night will go well for you. Looks like they are predicting a cooler than normal summer here for us

Thanks, Cyn. Nothing fancy, but we chose this home because we loved the land with this house. We are happy here.
In the next to the last picture you can see Cody. From him and going behind him to the neighbor's house is about 2 1/2 acres. I would love to fence it all in with electric fencing for the chickens. Especially would like to for the Icelandics........ someday!
