YAY YAY the boys and girls will be soooooooooooooo happy.

I am sad....I may have to rehome Lancelot

Not because of anything he does or did but because he is just sooooo big. My poor girls, the bulk of my layers, are so small compared to him, I am afraid he is going to hurt one of them. I noticed one of BOs walking stiffly today and then I saw him mount my EE girl and she is not a huge girl.

I don't know I am going to watch the situation closely for a bit and see what is what.

I took this video this morning of Sarah's little colt being an adorable goofball....had to share. He is 2 months old now and thinks he is The Man

Here is a quick one of some of the girls including the mean ole South American Orp, DeDe....also my Buff Cochin, Hera...she has turned into a gorgeous bird albeit NOT a bantam and also Suede and Smoky daughters, Athena, Maya and Ebony

Love the videos LH! That little guy sure is growing fast! He's gonna be a pretty boy when he gets his full growth. Hey! That Athena sure got to be a big girl! And could be a shoe in as a sister to my GeeGee! If you ever need to rehome her, you know where to send her, now don't you!?!?

Sorry to hear that Lancelot has grown too big for his girls. You need to get some great big Brahma girls into your flock for him. Or maybe some JG's!

Good Lord! It's like watching a 7 foot tall man try to cram himself into one of those little Mazda Miata's!!

Nicholas!

You obviously don't know LH that well. Seriously, though, that won't help the size issue with a huge rooster and a small hen. That is why Suede wasn't made my flock leader when Hawkeye died.

Ahhh. I forgot that LH likes the smaller birds, and you hate the English orps!

I think they are really beautiful.

Now now Nick....pay attention now

LH LOVES big honkin birds which is why I loved my Thor so much, adore Suede and love my Lancelot....but my layers are my original girls...mixed flock. Some cochins, australorps, BOs, EE, Dominque etc etc and they are all hatchery stock...so they are smaller than they should be really. I just do not want them hurt by 13lbs of bouncing roo on their back. I may end up doing an "old ladies" style coop and putting my smaller girls in there, roosterless or get a smaller roo for them. I could get some mixed orps or something for Lancelot because I really do not want to rehome him.

Cyn does not hate English Orps, she just does not like them as much as American Orps. I do not either for the matter. I think they are too short, rounded and fluffy but I have seen some English/American crosses that look really nice so I have no problem with them at all. We all have preferences which is cool...I dislike Turkens, Langshans and several other breeds. I love the look of a Delaware but do not like Columbian Rocks...I love light brahmas but do not like light sussex.

We shall see what happens and I will try to work it out so Lancelot stays even if I have to split up my layers.

In this video you can see the size difference between Lancelot and some of the girls...

I hope that it works out where he can stay!

Hey Kathy, how are you liking those buff and red Sussex chicks? Have any pictures?

Well, this is one of my oldest hens. She's from the 3 left hatchery girls. She keeps beating up on the Delawares, pecking me, and is just SO flighty, I can hardly ever check her for bumblefoot, worm her, dust her or anything... Just can't have her here. I don't want ANY more flighty chickens, considering I handle them so much. LH, she's a wench! Just a brat... I hate her! So, here she is, ready to go to her new home this weekend. The fam always wants some fried chicken at the holiday family parties from me... Maybe this will be the right time? I really hate her! Plus, I need to make room.

Nick, you have a female that is mean. she must be stuck in pms mode

So far I have had 3 males that bad so far. They are going to the stew pot soon. Need to find a home for a male amerucana wrong color for my breeding.

I've only ever had 1 hen that was actually mean. Lots of flighty hens but guess what, when hawks are out and dogs and other random predators, THEY are the ones who survive. My flighty girls are the best layers, best foragers and first to come RUNNING when I have treats!

I did have 1 black andalusian hen that was mean. She would actually try to bite me if I was nearby. She would run over, jump up onto the table in the coop and then bite anything that got near me. Always made me worry she was going to get an eyeball when I wasn't looking. She was sold.

Just post her on craigslist. You could probably get $10 for her. Does she lay colored eggs?
