Yep. Green. However, I have a friend who's chickens are all mean, so she is going to take her.

I don't think I've ever had a single "mean" bird ever! A few who were cantankerous, grouchy or grumpy, but never mean! Either I've been very lucky, or their bad tempers don't get me upset enough to rehome one because of it.

Griffin was rehomed because I wanted him to have a better life than what I could give him here. He didn't like my relationship with my hens, [i.e. jealousy] and I didn't want to accidentally kill him in a moment of self defense. But he was never what I would call a "mean" bird. He was just very protective of his girls to the point of being detrimental to the relationship between he and I.

At last report from the gal who adopted him, he's having a grand old time of being flock rooster to a very eclectic and decidedly oddball flock of chickens, ducks, turkeys, pheasant and quail!

I am a grandpa!!!! My lil rock hen hatched out four of her six babies yesterday! One doesnt look well - but the other three are healthy and strong - couldnt be more proud and excited. Need to look up on here about sexing the barred ones BUT i think i have two hens and a roo from the pics i have seen and the spots on their heads - any advice anyone on that ????

Cool about the babies! Nugget's one egg is on Day 20 and I think there is lift-off under her. She keeps looking under her. She was moved to the broody pen overnight.

If they are pure BRs or Cuckoo Marans or Dominiques, http://www.dominiquechicken.com/Sexing_Dominique_chicks.html. If they are crosses, that isn't as accurate.

My friend and customer is going to take two of my extra 5 week old chicks, plus the D'Uccle trio and Tasha on Saturday so I know they'll all be pampered to the max. She obsesses over the birds and I never have any worries about them going with her.

Two other good folks will be coming for extras that day so it may be a Chicken Party here on Saturday. Better make some goodies!

Oh, and guess who is back here? JAY and miss evil Del! Ugh... Something happened with work of the guy keeping them for us where he can't any linger. I will just take them to where I take all of my leftovers this weekend. These I got attached to, but I will just have to take them to the guy 45 mins outside of Atlanta who order chickens from hatcheries, calls them Ameraucanas and sells 50 a day.

Nick, you're going to have to start a policy that no chicken that leaves your place can ever come back because of the disease factor. You never know what they could be exposed to when they leave your place and bring back.

Sorry it didn't work out.

Cyn, that is already my policy. So much bio-security. I have people who come over in leather shoes or high heels, and they can't go see the birds because those shoes can't be sprayed, etc. These are in a cage in the corner of my yard. A good 200 yards away from the chickens.
