Yard full o' rocks :

Evenin' y'all

Just came in from "visting" with my crew (chicken TV is good for the soul ya know)

Here are a few pix of a couple CR pullets I am looking to keep as breeders for next year. They are almost 5 months old. Any thoughts?

I'm headed off to bed....for some reason I'm wiped out and I think its my D@*M allergies already. Take care and I'll check in tomorrow mornin'

Nice birds Scott. Maybe next year I can try again.

With fungal crap, we would get it off and on with high humidity. Gave up, took to full coop cleans, bleach everything, AND use that AC as it helps with the chickens breathing overall. Did the clean out and bleach every 3 weeks, it seems to work for us.

Hey Scott i think they look good! They have the "lenght" that the Rock breeders talk about alot - that is for sure - so good type! The markings they look great to me BUT i am understanding that is a tough color to feal with

I am a HUGE bargain shopper - hope the vaporizer works well for ya!

This summer is unlike any other my birds have ever experienced. We usually have two or three days of high heat/humidity combo, not three solid months. I live at 2000 ft so most nights were cool and dry, but not this summer. Even the nights didn't cool way off like normal. So, this is the first time I've ever had to deal with this and I hope it's the last. I made the mistake of continually wetting down the pens and I won't do that again. At least, now I know which birds can't handle the high heat index for long periods. Sadly, that includes the Delawares.

I LOVE chicken TV, too, Scott! Interactive TV.

They are looking great! I love seeing your pictures and watching them grow!

Scott, those pullets look really good to me, buddy.

Let me know how that vaporizer does for you. I sat mine on a plastic table in the coop and made everyone go in one side-they usually divide up in the two roost areas at night. Did it two days in a row at roost time for about an 45 minutes each time. I know you're supposed to use a fogger to distribute it, but those are really expensive and this did the trick. If you do get a fogger, it's recommended to fog the coop, including the birds themselves (no need to remove food and water) once a week, by Shagbark Bantams. The fogger produces a finer droplet than a vaporizer, but a good fogger is really pricey.

LOL @ Tim!
BTW do you know how to kill a blue elephant? You shoot it with a blue elephant gun. Do you know how to kill a pink elephant? You squeeze it's trunk til it turns blue and then shoot it with a blue elephant gun. lol

Very handsome birds, Scott!! They look beautiful to my eyes!

Cyn, it just has to be good Karma on those Smokey babies. Right at a time when they are needed and wanted the most!

Rancher, those elephant jokes

Great Googly Moogly boy! Where do you get such things? Probably the same place I got these:
Why do you not walk through the jungle between 5-7 pm? Because that's when the elephants are jumping out of the trees! Why did the elephant paint her toenails red? Because she wanted to hide in the Cherry trees! How did Tarzan die? Picking cherries between 5-7 pm! What is the black gooey stuff between elephant's toenails? Slow gorillas that wandered through the jungle between 5-7 pm!

Don't even get me started! I have a ton more of 'em!

Who would like to come to my place for a nice visit? Room and board, completely free, and I'm an excellent cook! What do I want in return? Just someone to help me trim spurs on five boys and trim nails on about 17 girls that really need it! Denny is darn near less than worthless when it comes to handling the birds. The man has no sense of empathy or compassion, and I'm afraid the job requires at least a modicum of either to do it successfully.

Hmmmm.....I wonder if any of the 4-H kids in the neighborhood could be enticed into a day of trimming.

Found Shelby, my Olive Egger, wandering outside the fence. I think Ranger was pursuing her and she probably flew up and over, accidentally. Rex isn't mating, but Ranger sure is, which is why I need to rehome that bad boy really soon. Tom is going to town and will put ads up at the bulletin board at the county co-op so maybe we'll find him a home soon. I think Isaac would kill him, or kill himself trying to catch Ranger. I sort of doubt he could really catch him since Ranger is fast as lightning!

Ranger has been mating, and I mean doing a good job of it, since he was 10 weeks old. Obviously, he wasn't fertile at that time, but he's approaching fertility soon and is in with my BRs, so of course, I need him somewhere else pronto!
