Rex and the girls are just gorgeous! I sooooo love looking at the crisp barring on beautiful Barred Rocks. Get a bunch of them together in a small area ....... it'll make ya dizzy!

AND, for your enjoyment.......
So, this guy Bob forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was mad. She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE!!!" The next morning when his wife woke up, she looked out the window to find a box… gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale. . . Bob has been missing since Friday!

The F2s are 11 days old now. Next hatch is due in 3 days. The first picture is the only buff colored chick I got. I gave away all the black and barred chicks, and kept only the yellow ones. Well, and I kept the buff one, too.

Cool beans, its looking very promising there that you will have some white chicks/with black markings of some sort to possibly work with. And if that buff turns out to be a Buff barred and you don't want him/her I want first dibs on it and any others you end up with. I have a project in mind I could use them in(like I need another project,

but what the hay, life's short and you only get one pull thru it anyhow). I'm gonna PM you Mrs. Kathy with a ? of another matter too.

If I don't keep the buff chicks, you can sure have first dibs on them!

Oh, ok and thanks for my other request, also. I'm gonna have to get on the stick about downsizing around here soon. As soon as the dirt racing season is over here in a few weeks, I will be able to hit the local auction here( it just so happens to be on race night every week) and get rid of a bunch of my over-hatching results this year. I hatched way too many and had way too many broodies this year.

NOTE TO SELF don't do that again next season

I have to say that I've seen that leg coloring in my chicks or some of them. I don't recall what I read or why that happens.

Now for those of you who live in GA. I had read previously that fire wood was expen$ive. Would it be worth it to rent a truck and come up here and gets some? Today's paper had it $54 a cord. I've seen it cheaper than that too.

If that is a full cord, not a face cord, that is less than 1/2, no, maybe 1/4 the usual price. Still, the gasoline would be out of sight so would offset any savings, I'd think. I get a pickup truck bed load from a guy down the street (Tom has to go load it, but it's already split) for $50 that is probably almost 3/4 cord, not an exact measurement. We have loads of logs here to cut, but that requires keeping a chainsaw up and running with a sharp chain, not always an easy task, but we got two loads and have our "base" haul for the winter to add to with our own wood as we can. Mostly, here in my area, a full cord of wood is about $200 or so.
