yeah Ive went back and read a bunch where she has posted way back when and I mean way back as in so long ago(yesterday sometimes

) I just remember bits and pieces of it too. I know she called the Delaware pattern Gradient Barring, who knows anymore I'm gonna have to sit down and copy all my goto links down for geneitics and such.

That's straight from the horses' mouth "so to speak" I wonder why Tim is calling Dels. wheaten based, huh? I guess now that I read some more of it maybe he discovered something in his red barred project as to the Dels being wheaten?

I started me a question thread over in the genetics section so I won't clutter up this chat thread with all my inquiries and sometime far out info. and findings.

Probly getting on some nerves on here, I reckon

Not on mine, Jeff, I just can't keep all the s/s/b/b/co/co and what they mean straight. I remember reading about this before, and do NOT remember anything about wheaten- but Tim was using RIR in his project, and would that make a difference?

One thing some here may not realize is that the genetic markers for almost every pattern and color exist in every bird out there. Are they hidden or covered, turned off or on, or with some characteristics only in the male or female side of a given flock or a characteristic that is recessive and not surfaced in a line in 40 years. So once again finding any stock that does not have potential to go sideways in unpredictable ways is impossible and 90% of that potential you will never "eyeball" but find out about some where down the road.

Boy, I am sore. I have chased down and moved chickens half the day. My dang right shoulder-neck-arm have been bothering me for over a week, and I just can't seem to find any relief. Doesn't matter if I rest it or exercise it, same pain.

So, I moved grow outs into larger areas, and still have an open pen.

I still have another pen of possible freezer filler, but they aren't big enough yet. I am thinking I may cull down a couple more pens yet this month, too. I do not want to keep more than 8 or so hens for each breeder pen. One pen of extra roosters is enough, too. Some breeds I will have only one cock, and no reserve. Just seems a waste to keep all those boys for, "just in case," reasons. I dunno.....

Oh, and I have a spare refrigerator FULL of processed chicken. They are "resting," and will be going to Camp Whirlpool in a couple days.
