I do them in shifts, maybe half one day, then the other half a day or two later.

That's what I've been doing here. 7 a day. So far only tossed two eggs. Still have three rows to do. I can not stand the stress of anticipating as many chicks as some of you are. Good garden o' peas! My turners missing a row, but that's ok with me.

I do have some shipped eggs in this trip and so far I think they are doing ok. Came from a friend in GA. But you know how that goes. Can't count your chicks before they hatch.

SO, Kathys #1 & 2, if you were doing this, how would you handle the bantam eggs? I have little strips of that rubbery shelf liner so I can wrap a "belt" around each so they don't clunk in the large turner holes, but would it be better to stack them on top, or the larger eggs on top of large eggs and go with putting the bantam eggs in the turner as planned with their non-slip belts?



Agree, Tim, that shifts are the way to go with this many eggs. Good grief, that's a lot of eggs in one bator!

Id put the bantam eggs on top. Dont bother wrapping them with anything, do hens do that? They clunk them around in the nest all the time. I mark the eggs for day 18, so I know when to take them out and put them in the Brinsea to hatch.

That's what I would do, too! I haven't tried it, but I would......

These bantam eggs are teensy, though. Are you sure they wouldn't be crushed between two big ones? Shadow's are fat and round, almost like a malted milkball, but the D'Anvers are more egg shaped and very narrow at the pointy end.

Okay, eggs are in, all 50 of them. Yeah, FIFTY. I'm crazy, but I only want a few BR pullets and D'Anvers pullets. The rest are leaving. Here is the way I put them in, with the D'Anvers in the turner, but most of Shadow's and all of Maretta's stacked. Will probably take until late tonight for the temp to come back up. As round and little as Shadow's are, it probably doesn't matter if they're on end or on their sides.
