Cyn, I love those pics with the guineas. Maybe someday.

Kathy, were you hoping that they would look like girls if they were surrounded by eggs?

I think the buff one looks like a boy too.

I have no idea about that, Amy. It's probably not much different than a chicken, if predators don't come into the picture, but I can't say for certain. They are hardier than chickens and don't have the same reproductive issues to the degree that chickens do.

Still 100% concurrence . 1 buff boy.

I have to say I never saw guineas before. I always thought they were these little bantam things. I heard they love snakes. Are they chickens?

I read they live 10 - 25 years, and that 12 years in the wild is common.

What interested me, when I was reading, is that they keep mouse and snake populations down. I hate mice, and now have a new interest....... guineas.

Kathy, looks like two pullets and a cockerel to me, at this point anyway. The buff one is a cockerel for sure. Keep an eye on the white one, which could bloom as a male later, but right now, looks girly.

I agree with Cyn...that white one could be a young crossdresser but my vote right now is pullet too.

Kathy Guineas are snake killers for sure and they eat ticks....mice populations suffer with them around in numbers too. Great guard dogs once they get out of juvenile stage.

Guineas are nothing like chickens, trust me. They are wild birds of African heritage, crazy birds! Here are their calls for you, which is why you really don't want them in the 'burbs-listen to it all the way through:

Kathy...I believe I have a blue male OE, a female Blue and a female black ....time will tell but the blues were caught on video doing their studies today....

The blue male (?)

The blue female

Delawegger Sunbathing...well Junebug's version, sunbathing on a human (I blame Tom for this ridiculous non-chicken child)

Sliced Turkey and the feast is on
