Kathy-nice flock! And my grandson looks exactly like yours from the back, including the red hair!

It's just too quiet here. Who has pictures?

Chick pictures anyone?

"We," are hatching. I am using the incubator for a few Delawares, and the Icelandic hen is using her body! Hopefully she will accept all of the chicks! I have only a dozen eggs in the hatcher. Looks like she is gonna hatch one (maybe two). Look how pale she is.

Is it just my monitor, Kathy, or is her comb even a bit on the pale side? Poor girl. Is she one of those who doesn't come off of the nest for love or money or even food and water when she's brooding!?! I always worry about girls that are that dedicated.

Maretta is finally snapping out of her broody trance, after about 28 days. Opal, one of Shadow's daughter's, is still in hers at 26 days, but she has her sister, Misty, and my Silver Phoenix, both only about 10 days into theirs, keeping her interested. I gave NONE of them any eggs, either. Don't want chicks going into winter.

I may sell Opal, and maybe even Misty, to my friend who is coming on Saturday to get a few of the D'Anver pullets. Shadow's daughters are nothing like her except in color. If they had any of her personality, I would never let them go, but they are like her only in that they are lavender.

Gideon is leaving Friday. Someone is coming from South Carolina to get him. He'll have 7 lovelies all to himself. He's going to be a sweetie like Isaac once he calms down some more, I'm sure. He is in NO way aggressive.

Isn't he a handsome Delawegger??

I just wish I could have gotten one of my girls to go broody this summer, Cyn. One of them thought about it for about a week and then messed up and got back on the wrong nest after her morning constitutional.

And of course I didn't discover the mix up until well after it was too late. NUTS! I wanted some broody raised babies. Even if it meant having to deal with a few more boys.

Sure wish you were closer to me. I'd have come to get Gideon long ago. He looks like he'd do great in a Delawegger breeding program.

I've got pics of the CR's from Scott that still are not crowing or laying and I can't find them in the computer. It's a long story.

I've got Del born later that will be laying before these guys. Don't get me wrong they are nice just not maturing very fast. I hope they lay a good long time.

Took chicks to the auction and some pullets, but I still have some EE's and BM's and Del chicks held back. I can understand why Dels are not worked with by many. They are hard.

Kathy keep us updated on yours. None I've seen have the size I'd expect. At least the hens.

The lav orps don't have the size of Jody's buffs either. Nor do my black orp roosters from her. I may dump them and just get buffs.
