Sebastopol Geese Thread !!!!!!!!!! SHOW YOUR PICS !!!!!!!!!!

Mrs Fluffy Puffy, here are some more pics of goose pens. The first is just inside one end. The second is from the dividing fence over the other side. I use dog kennels and dog houses for nest boxes.

The next pics are of the repurposed chicken coop. (into a goose coop)

Nesting boxes inside the red coop.

Question for you all, Do you give your geese water at night when locked up? I have been using buckets hung on the wall, but in the red coop, the wooden floor gets soaked! In my other big coop, it is ground with gravel on top, so it soaks in pretty well. I am aware that if I take away the water I would also take away any food. Your advice is welcome.

Love the pens!

I don'k keep any feed or water inside the coops unless the weather is really bad or we have to be gone overnight. The birds only sleep and nest inside and spend the rest of the day in the yard. They could go in anytime, but they just don't seem to want to.

I take the dishes away from goslings and ducklings at night at 2 or 3 weeks.

Yes it is a 4 ft fence. Yesterday we were gone all day and she busted out of her pen! She bent fencing all about and squeezed out the gate. She is safe. She is hanging with my gander and a goose that I am not breeding. Both of these birds are very gentle and this gander does not have interest in breeding. I am not sure why she was so adamant about getting out. The gander she was with does not seem to be mean, there is plenty of room and water etc in their pen. Can it be she wants to free range more or just doesn't like the gander? Shellie- I will give you a call soon.

On another note, the other day was sunny and I was out working on pens and had a cup of coffee with me. (creamed and sweetened with stevia) My friendliest goose came up to me to see what I had and when I put my mug down by her, she stuck her bill in and blew her nose! te he!! Yes, then I picked out the grass pieces and still drank my coffee. They are such characters!

I am going to buy a new incubator just for goose eggs, i am looking at the Brinsea octogon 20. Is the eco good enough or should i get the advanced? I really don't mind hand turning. Has any one used this brand? Advise please
